With it not being a legal requirement to isolate now are people going out for example a walk at quiet times?
Was talking to a friend this morning who's been advised by school that her children with covid are to stay off school until two negative lft's. They are both feeling much better and one on day 6 and one on day 8 (still postive though) and so she is considering going for a walk around the local reservoir tomorrow.

I’m on my own with one covid positive child and one negative. Had to take the positive one on the school run this morning! Luckily someone is able to collect.

I couldn't find anyone to take my negative DD to the childminder today so put a mask on and took her myself ( childminder was fine with this). It felt so wrong but I tried not to get too close to anyone and suspect the risk to anyone we passed is tiny.
I'll probably take the car to pick her up but that's more because walking up the hill felt like I'd run 5k!

Reading this makes you wonder if vaccines made any difference... as people still seem so worried about Covid.

Imagine if we hadn't developed vaccines so quickly..?!

All 4 of us here have covid. We have a dog that needs walking, so we’ve taken turns in walking the dog. We cross the road if someone approaches, but it really helps to get fresh air and try and keep moving. I’m sure we are recovering quicker being able to get out. We’ve not been anywhere else and have cancelled dentist, hairdresser and football.

Schools seem to have adopted as standard a request for5 days off (like the uniform 48 hours for D&V)

There is no legal requirement to upisooate at home.

But I'd think it was hugely irresponsible and fucking antisocial to go near people (anyone, let alone the vulnerable) when you know you have covid. So you need to be absolutely certain that under no circumstances would you put anyone else at risk if you do decide to go out and about.

I’d go for a walk outside if I were positive. It’s good to get fresh air and exercise for recovery, as well as mental health. In two weeks people won’t be isolating anymore anyway, so don’t think it really matters having a walk outside.

There is some evidence that vaccine protection starts to wane after about 4 months. Most people were done in the autumn, so could be losing protection now. It's a mercy that the current variant is mild, as numbers are increasing really very fast at the moment.

I've got covid at the moment. Apart from the first couple of days when I felt quite unwell, I've been going out for a walk every day. Tomorrow (day 7) I'm childminding my grand-daughters as always. Avoiding crowded places (had tickets for a gig tomorrow which I've given to someone else) but otherwise I'm carrying on as normal

Vaccines which are wearing off 😬😬😬

It’s mild because of vaccines.

If this ripped through pre vaccines we’d be fucked - look at Hong Kong where it’s sweeping through and killing a shit ton because their vaccine rates are low.

That’s my wonder - vaccines wearing off and being hit with a new wave. How will we know until it’s too late?

I don’t understand why the government didn’t plan properly. Very quick to lift restrictions, cutting funding for surveillance and not even retaining free LFTs but no concrete plan for future vaccines.

I took my DD out for two walks a day last week while she had covid. She was completely asymptomatic & bored stupid. We went drove to various woods, reservoirs, walks on the moors. We just moved out of anyones way not unlike you would normally.

Chances of catching covid outdoors from passing someone is vanishingly small. And from April, I won’t be paying for tests so if DD is well enough to go out the house, we will be. Im certainly not keeping her indoors or off school for every cold & cough.
