Palpitations

I'm either on day 5 or a few days more. Every now and then since last night palpitations have been coming and going but to the extreme.
I have been know you have them from time to time but they're not as strong as this usually.
I can't work out if I'm focusing on them because I know I have covid or if covid is causing them.
This is my first time with covid, are palpitations a common side effect? And if so have they stopped when it goes away?
Sorry I know covid posts aren't the most exciting but I'm late to the party! The crappiest party ever lol

Hi, I've had this post Covid and the cardiologist said it's common with Covid and he'd seen lots of it, and usually rights itself in a few months. I ended up in a&e and bloods and ecg were fine. If you have any other symptoms with it such as tightness or pain across your chest, dizziness or breathlessness I would call 111/GP though for reassurance. Your Heart rate will naturally be higher while you fight a virus. Hope you have a swift recovery!

Sux2buthen · 14/03/2022 17:26

Thankyou, I'm assuming it's normal but I'm the only adult in the house and I tend to check for the worst case scenario so I can almost plan for it.
My heart rate has concerned doctors before but they've never found a reason for it to be fast.
I keep getting the odd gasp for air especially if I move or do something like I've just heated a pizza for the kids and my chest is banging.
I wouldn't want to seek help unless I absolutely had to so came on here for some common sense experience
Thank you

Just made a coffee and my Fitbit says my heart rate went to 110 bpm
Sorry I'm not panicking exactly just wish I had an adult here to chat with and be calm with!

I'm exactly the same, I do have some level of health anxiety and have a tendency to check my HR! 110 would be normal if you have Covid currently and are doing every day activity, mine was up to 150 with a slow walk when I was ill. That was 2 months ago and it's settled down now but I still get anxious. I'm waiting for a cardiologist appointment to check everything is ok, so they would definitely take you seriously if you wanted to get checked for piece of mind. It's a tricky one as worrying raises your HR so it's a catch 22 situation!

It's a gazillion now, kids been playing up Grin
I'm sure im just in the middle of feeling rubbish, I expected mild symptoms from all I've read and I feel much worse than anticipated! My own cocky fault

I felt way worse than I was expecting to! Mild illness just means you don't end up in hospital 😆. Hope you're feeling better soon! Definitely don't feel like you shouldn't get it checked though if it carries on.

Katya213 · 14/03/2022 21:02

I was doing well with covid, the day 8 and the palpitations left me in hospital with a hr 148bpm. Doctor said it was virus related.

KylieKoKo · 14/03/2022 21:11

A couple of my friends had this and it just resolved itself after a few days.

lulalalala · 14/03/2022 22:15

Yes I had palpitations @ day 6/7 and my BP was much higher than normal (v. low normally). It did resolve itself. Just take it easy and don't push yourself too much. You do need time to recover!!!!

Sux2buthen · 14/03/2022 23:25

Strangely enough once my children had gone to bed it calmed down quite a bit. I don't think that's coincidence Grin
Lone parent of 3, all positive and they are running rings around me, I'm grateful they are doing ok though

Haha well that will definitely do it! Mine goes up when I'm getting them ready to get out to school in the morning 🤣 hope you're feeling better today.

We've all just had our first negative results, almost back to normality Grin

I had it twice.

Sux2buthen · 16/03/2022 14:40

I did just get a bit cocky with having more energy and now I'm regretting it so I will be relaxing now so everyone can go back where they need to be, tests permitting!

Sux2buthen · 16/03/2022 14:42

Heart rates at 126 still perhaps I'll chill out lol

OP posts:
Sux2buthen · 30/03/2022 18:51

I would say I'm recovered now but my heart rate has apparently been 146 at times today Blushmostly walking to and from work, school runs etc.
And I'm a strolling walker not a runner by any means.
Still a few palpitations
Resting around 100.
At what point would it be worth checking out? With a doctor I mean

Sux2buthen · 30/03/2022 18:51

I'm clueless on heart stuff sorry

OP posts:
Choconuttolata · 30/03/2022 18:59

You need an ECG to rule out anything untoward, my GP sent me to A&E with palpitations post-Covid as my heart rate hit 200bpm. Turned out it was sinus tachycardia and I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia.
