Positive covid test and supposed to be going to holiday cottage

Both me and DH got positive lateral flow tests - him yesterday and me this morning. We'd booked a holiday cottage from today for a week.
Do we go or stay at home? It's by the sea in a very small village - quite isolated. We have lots of ready meals and groceries and wine so wouldn't need to go near the shops. We can walk on the beach watch tv etc if we become more ill we would come back home

It's a dilemma - isolate at home or by the sea?

Are you well enough to drive, obviously if you aren't it will be difficult to go until you are, I wouldn't have tested but if I had flu and couldn't drive safely, I would leave it for a couple of days until I felt better

Heartofglass12345 · 12/03/2022 15:09

I would probably go if I was feeling well enough to get there, the only thing is I speak to a lot of people who are positive as part of my job and some people find after a couple of days it hits them and they are really unwell, you have to be well enough to be able to drive home too.

@FoxyFoxyLoxy

Go! Have a lovely holiday, what's the difference between being at home or anywhere else?

So over the covid shrieking.

This.

Go and have a nice time. Open the windows when you leave if you feel it's important.

Eims88 · 12/03/2022 15:44

I'd go.

HesterShaw1 · 12/03/2022 15:44

@Suzi888

You aren’t meant to travel with covid. What if your car breaks down on the way…

I just wouldn’t have bothered resting and gone anyway. There are plenty of people with covid travelling about! By summer isolation will end and that’ll be that. We will all be free to spread covid Confused.

Then a mechanic will come and mend it by the roadside in a fresh breeze
statementstate · 12/03/2022 15:49

You have both been unwell for a week, so I would say you're near the end of it.

Go.

You may even test negative before leaving there.

Suzi888 · 12/03/2022 16:58

@HesterShaw1 not in mine. Hmm Hiwnold is your car🤣

Suzi888 · 12/03/2022 16:58

How old even!

Zonder · 12/03/2022 17:43

It all depends on how long you have had it. You're not infective after 10 days anyway even if you're still positive.

shinynewapple22 · 13/03/2022 12:01

How are you feeling @Imdoingitnext ? What did you decide ?

Imdoingitnext · 13/03/2022 17:27

Hi @shinynewapple22 thanks for asking. We decided we wouldn't go as we feeling a bit rough and thought it was too far to drive (200 miles)) and too risky. We didn't want to risk infecting anyone. We've got everything we need at home too and friends family and good neighbours

Hope you’re resting and recovering well.

As a self employed holiday let cleaner, thank you Imdoingitnext Flowers
Hope you feel better soon!

shinynewapple22 · 13/03/2022 18:16

Probably for the best OP. Hope you are feeling better soon and you get another opportunity for a break .

Delatron · 14/03/2022 13:28

I’d treat it like I would any other illness now. So am I too ill to travel/ drive? Is DH too ill to drive? Stay away from others. Would you enjoy it if you are too ill to do much or would you enjoy the fresh air?

It all depends on how ill you’re both feeling really.

Hopefully we’ll move on from the constant testing too now you have to pay for tests. Then we really will treat Covid like all the other illness around.

Delatron · 14/03/2022 13:29

Ah I’ve see you’ve decided to stay at home. Probably the best choice if feeling too ill.
