Do a need a PCR? Very confused

So, just tested positive on LFT. Feel like a have a cold. All others in household negative so have gone to school etc

But should I now do a PCR? I thought you didn't need them anymore in this scenario but the government website seems to say I do?
Other complication is that I had covid over Christmas and had positive PCR 11 weeks ago so maybe I shouldn't have another PcR within 12 weeks?

What's the right answer?

Depends upon where you live.

In England you take the positive LFT as true - unless you have one of the 3 official symptoms you are not advised to take PCR test.

"Report your result and if positive, stay at home and avoid contact with others."

Full advice here for different countries in UK -

If you've got a positive LFT you don't need a PCR. If you had symptoms and a negative LFT you would.

From the link above (will change 1st April) -

Get tested and stay at home if you have symptoms
The main symptoms of COVID-19 are a recent onset of any of the following:

a new continuous cough
a high temperature
a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
If you have any of these symptoms you should order a PCR test. You are advised to stay at home, avoid contact with other people, and follow the guidance for people with COVID-19 and their contacts while you wait for your test result.

You don't even have to isolate anymore. We've decided we won't be PCR or testing DS as he won't need the negative to go back to school. Think the PCR would only be useful if you need it for isolation from work

DS1 tested positive on wednesday. We are in england. We are not doing a follow up PCR but have reported the results online via the website so at least there is some record somewhere. Otherwise how else will Public health know what is going on? (Although not doing a pcr means that new variants will not be tracked or identified either).
