Teenager with Covid with high temperature - how common is this?

My da, 15, has a high temperature and is probably the illest I can remember him (he's usually very healthy).

I keep hearing about everyone with mild cold-type symptoms, and teens and kids barely getting ill - especially with the current milder variant.

Has anyone else or their teens currently or recently had a very high temp as their main symptom? He also feels weak, headache, slight sore throat, aches and pains etc but these could largely be down to the temperature.

Just worried if he feels this bad on day 1, he may feel really dreadful soon. :(

He's only single-jabbed due to his age.

High temperature for the first two days but hone today. Smile

He has a sore throat, earache, cold-type symptoms and generally feels a bit rough, but overall feeling much better, thanks @goldensilver - hope that's reassuring for anyone else whose dc has just gone down with similar symptoms.

Ah that's great, glad to hear it. Sounds v similar to my kids.

DD1, age 15, had a high temperature (and associated feeling ropey) as her first symptom. She was pretty sorry for herself for the first 24-28 hours, then started to perk up after that, and was thoroughly ready to go back to school by day 5 (though continued to test positive for several days afterwards). (She's normally super-healthy, very rarely gets ill.)

DD2, 13, barely even had a cold. Wouldn't have known there was anything wrong with her if not for the positive tests.

Glad your DS is feeling a bit better.

@Finallygotme

My sporty teens were also hit hard and were unwell for 10 days. Interestingly when I've said how hard they were hit others have then said that they were unwell. It's almost as it you are failing if you are sick.
Agree with this. If you disagree with the mantra that kids are asymptomatic then people think you are being a drama queen (but others will tell you privately that their children were ill as well)

Both of my teenagers had a high fever for around 36 hours. My sporty one must have felt rough as he was in bed for 4 days solid without complaining that he was bored

Same here and felt rough for 4 days. Feeling a bit better today
