Hi,

We've all got covid here! Supposed to be going to Italy at Easter. We're all double vax and the twins are 4. Our son is 7 though and apparently needs proof he's had covid?! Been around and around the internet but can't seem to find where I would get this.

Thanks

You need to record all his results on the gov website the. once he’s negative you can get a covid passport code from the app

pinkcattydude · 10/03/2022 13:57

Sorry nhs app

proseccodreamz · 10/03/2022 16:21

But he's not got an app because he's only 7. The passports are from 12 and above

Ah ok teach me to read properly if you have recorded his positive results you can buy a recovery cert privately. What a pain

orangina01 · 11/03/2022 22:23

Try the Mayfield Clinic online, we got one for our DC from there before a flight at Xmas. It wasn't cheap though! Good luck.

Watapalava · 12/03/2022 16:39

It’d be cheaper for him to just do the pre travel lft test - you can do then with chronomics for £20 and they issue a fit to fly Cert in 20 mins

Under 12 are exempt from green passes etc in Italy so just lft him

Watapalava · 12/03/2022 16:41

To clarify - Italy entry is covid proof or lft which is why it’ll be much easier and cheaper to lft him

Thewindwhispers · 12/03/2022 17:05

Thank you @orangina01 I had the same question as OP, and hadn’t realised we needed to get a pcr, not just the home NHS-lft, then also buy a (£149!!) certificate of recovery - what a mess! In some countries - eg Northern Ireland- you just fill in a form online and get a free certificate but UK system is an incoherent mess and, as usual, requires money 😐.

Anyway to other readers it seems to be the case that if an unvaccinated child over age 6 (but younger than age 12) is going to Italy then while they have covid you wanna do a pcr test and then pay for a private certificate of recovery from Mayfield. Or if they haven’t had covid they’ll need a pre-departure pcr 😖

Watapalava · 12/03/2022 19:29

Thewindwhispers - That' not true at all

Unvax kids and adults to Italy do not need pcr or recovery cert.

It specifically says they need

PCR (72 hrs), OR
LFT (24 hrs) OR...
Recovery cert

Not all

LFT fit to fly are easy to get!

These are the rules for unvax adults and it says online "Children aged 6 and over must follow the rules for adult travellers."

I'm thinking of leaving it until the 31st March as that's when they're saying the rules may change.
He's now got a positive pcr. Wouldn't that email be proof enough? Just don't get what I'm paying a private company a load of money for! So annoying that nothing is clear!

LFT - 48 hours not 24

Watapalava · 12/03/2022 19:34

Prosecco - just lft him!!! You do lft the day before flying, upload photo and they send you fit to fly cert. I've done it several times. If he's out of the infectious 10 period just get someone else to do his lft as its only a photo.

People on here are massively over complicating it

Great thank you. Where do I upload it?!

you need to buy one from say randox or chronomics - they post it you. You register it and then upload photo and they instantly email fit to fly. You cant use nhs test which is why they usually charge £15 for it

Have a similar issue, in vaccinated 10 year old and going to Italy at Easter. He had covid at Christmas and I’d like to use proof of recovery over pcr test. Has anyone used one from a private provider, will they be accepted in Italy. We are also driving so they will need to be accepted on Swiss/Italian boarder. Not even sure they will even accept private PCR here? Anyone advice would be great fully received!

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 16/03/2022 09:08

Thought I was going to have the same issue with DD, but then the country we're going to (Germany) thankfully changed its rules to exempt under-12s from having to provide proof of vaccination, recovery or negative test. This is in line with general EU guidance, so hopefully Italy will follow suit.
