Any advantage to getting PCR if LFT positive?

Have been in close contact with a positive case and testing daily, felt rubbish overnight, tested this morning and immediately positive. Completely confident in the result and will isolate and report result on my app as well as letting contacts know.

Gov guidance is not to get a PCR in my case so I'm not intending to but thought I'd ask incase there is anything I'm missing? Does it have any effect on travelling (I'm flying in about 30 days, the destination doesn't currently require any tests but that might change). FWIW I'm fully (triple) vacc'd.

Don't think you can get a recovery certificate for travelling without a PCR. Depending where you're going this may or may not be an issue.

I didn't get one & kind of wish I had. If you do go somewhere that requires tests you could test positive for 90 days. Many places accept proof of infection within x days (eg Canada I believe). I'm not sure what the rules are for Italy but I'm going there before my 90 days are up.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I guess, do I need one for a recovery certificate / do I need a recovery certificate given I am triple jabbed.

I took a PCR yesterday after a positive LFT as I am going on holiday in May and thought it was best to have it 'officially' documented just in case rules change.

I think it will vary from country to country & is liable to change anyway. I would just get one as a back up!

DD tested positive yesterday and I am now feeling rubbish but still testing negative. Will definitely get a PCR if I test positive as I'm supposed to go on a work trip at the end of this month and the destination requires a negative test result.

You don’t need to do a thing

In fact you can grab your coat and head to the supermarket if you so wished

But you’d have to get a test no matter surely?

You don't have to get tests now if LFT positive. I never had any of the classic symptoms

JazzyBBG · 09/03/2022 16:12

Yes get a PCR so you can have recovery certificate if needed for travel.

Yes

But no one would know you’d had it
So why a recovery cert?
Surely only if you’re not vaccinated

No you do not

It’s vaccination
Or
Recovery cert

EatYourFive · 09/03/2022 19:33

@Landedonfeet the country I am travelling to requires a negative test before boarding. If you have recently had covid the test can still show up as positive and they therefore acknowledge proof of recovery instead.
