Positive then negative

My ds had 2 positive cases in his class last week so we were asked to test the children each morning before school. On Friday my son had the faintest T line ever, so much so that it couldn't even be seen in a photograph when I tried to take a picture, only in the right light could you see it and it only popped up in the last 5 minutes of the 30 min time frame. He had no symptoms but we kept him off anyway. We tested him on Saturday -negative, tested him this morning - negative and still not one single symptom. Does he even have it? We've all had covid before with symptoms including the children back in November so we've seen his body's reaction to this virus before, he's completely well!

Are they definitely 30 monute tests as some should be read no later than 15/20 minutes

Yes it's definitely the 30 minute tests and we always watch them for the full 30 minutes to be sure.

Was he negative before Friday as well. Another possibility he was infected and you caught the very very end of it. Perhaps he had a lower viral load and was asymptomatic this time around?

We were only informed on Thursday lunch time while the children were in school that 2 positive cases had come up so they asked us to test the children frid and then Mon, Tues and Wednesday of this week coming as that would be 5 days worth, so we hadn't tested him before Friday no. That's what I'm thinking it's either been a false positive or he's had a very low viral load that hasn't caused him any symptoms, in this case is he still infectious? Because I need to let my employer know if I live with a positive case because I work in the community so I'm unsure whether to isolate him or not, we've stayed in the whole weekend but with 2 negatives 2 days in a row I'm wondering is it necessary to complete the full 5 days.

Was this a flowflex test? My DS sometimes gets false positives showing as a faint line on them. They don't advertise it but at least at the moment you can still get a PCR to confirm a LFT even though you don't have to.

It was the nasal only test. We can't get pcr without symptoms in Northern Ireland at the min.
