Have to isolate pre hospital but DS doesn't - can't take him to school?

Apologies if this has already been covered.

So, I'm having to isolate pre hospital admission on Thurs. My DS doesn't have to isolate. I was told it will be ok as long as I don't hug/kiss him. I can't drive him to school though. Seems ridiculous. I can be in the house with him but not in the car with him. I won't be anywhere near other people. For context, he's in high school and still wears his mask even though he doesn't have to. I can't see any increased risk. Am I missing something?

Of course you can take him to school you just don’t get out the car.

Just don’t tell anyone. Isolation pre op will be finishing soon anyway.

I think a car is particularly high risk because it's such a confined space.

Just do it, no one’s going to know!

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, just don't tell anyone. I had the Covid test at hospital today and also did one of my DS's school tests at home, negative. I just can't see any increased risk.
We've had it drummed into us to obey the rules but sometimes they just don't make sense.

I've had a chat with my DS and he's quite happy to wear his mask all day and use gel at school and in the car. I will also. He's always been more vigilant than I have been.
It's just common sense really. I just wondered if I was missing something though.

You’re missing that being in a car is a very small, enclosed space. Though if you have the windows wound down substantially that risk would dissipate.

Cars are terrible for spreading bugs. More so than your house.
The isolation thing is to protect you, not just to try and stop the spread/pander to lockdown lovers. The last thing you want is a general anaesthetic with covid. You really don’t want to develop covid post op. It’s not just a cold it affects your clotting.
Masks in the car and will does open.

Just like the initial 10 days rule. It’s picked to fry and get people to comply with the majority. Spread is up to 14 days but they knew people wouldn’t stick to that so agreed 10 days so the most would stick to it.

Even pre covid people going for major surgery would be sensible and not visit relatives with flu/stomach bugs the week before hand.
