Isolating from teens

Both DH and I have Covid since Monday. Been feeling pretty unwell with fever, cough etc. We've been staying mostly upstairs when our children get home from school and they have cooked supper for us and left outside the door. I've nipped into the kitchen wearing a mask to tidy up but not much more. I really don't want them to miss more school.

I guess I thought this was reasonable for maybe 5 days and assumed I would be negative after that. But it's starting to feel like too much for them to deal with on their own and I still feel really ill so can't imagine a negative test in the next day or 2.

I'm really not sure what to do. Anyone had this? They are 16 and 14.

I think I would be guided by what your DC want.

You don’t need to isolate now so they wouldn’t miss school would they?

They would if they were too ill to attend! It's not a foregone conclusion that young people with Omicron get minimal symptoms. One of DD's friends (aged 18 or 19 and triple jabbed) was ill for a week. Covid is a lottery.

Fully understand that!

But it’s not a given they’ll miss school and the chances are they won’t.

If they started displaying symptoms, I wouldn't feel I could ignore that and not test, given the likelihood it would be Covid. And then I wouldn't send them to school. DD2 wouldn't mind but DD1 is Y12 and really doesn't want to fall behind.
