Why would my throat/upper resp areas become inflamed now?

17 ish days since positive test. Tested negative on day 13. Not gone back to work yet (or out, due to son now having Covid).

My voice is croaky and hoarse and upper airways feel itchy and inflamed. Why would it be getting worse now? My temp and o2 sats are fine.

Honestly? It’s possible you have picked up something else after having had coronavirus. There are some nasty colds around right now.

SARS-COV-2 is an inflammatory disease.

Symptoms can hang around for a while. Also, some studies conclude that reinfection can happen very soon after a previous infection, particularly with the new strain.

Try to take things easy (as much as is practical for your circumstances). Give your body time to rest and fully recover. Flowers

We haven't been out to catch anything else, due to covid in household one after the other after the other.

Damage from the virus taking longer to heal?

I had covid in December. It was all upper respiratory symptoms with extreme sinus pain (main symptom). Nearly 3 months later my nose, sinuses, throat still aren't right. I wake up feeling like I have a cold a few times a week with a runny nose, I often have a scratchy throat! So much so I resorted to buying a nasal rinse today, seems to be getting worse not better! I can feel fine one day, feel like I have a cold the next and fine again. It's not every day. It's not actually a cold! It wasn't instant either. I was alright just after isolation then all thei started! I can't see any other reason for it than covid. I haven't had a 3 month long cold!

It's common for other viruses to piggyback on/take hold after covid. I developed laryngitis and a second chest infection whilst isolating - needed antibiotics to shift.
