Terrible taste in mouth

Hello Everyone,

Tested positive on LFT on Tuesday and PCR early hours of this morning. Had temp and headache,
Chills and now a bad stomach and this rotten taste.

I have a terrible taste in my mouth. The only thing I can liken it to is a time when I had paracetamol dissolve on my tongue. It’s a very chemical taste.

How the hell can I get rid of it?

Nothings shifting it. It’s so grim!

I had the exact same thing and the only thing that helped was gargling with a medical mouthwash, I think it’s called cordysyl? I also developed huge ulcers in my mouth but the mouthwash helped with both.

Hot water bottle, big snuggle blanket and bed for the day xx

My husband had the same thing when we had it. He described it as a ammonia taste. He found anything with vinegar in triggered it, especially ketchup, salt, bacon, sweet and sour. It lasted for 8 days for him.

SugarAndCoffee · 24/02/2022 09:08

You can't really. Avoid trigger food if you find any of it makes it worse.

I have bad taste in mouth too but can still taste foods ok, but this bad taste kind of masks the taste of whatever food I eat.

Will this bad taste ever go? On day 10 now

I had this and it was what made me test. It does go away

momiamarichman · 24/02/2022 23:38

I had the same! Metal kind of taste, it went away as I got better so don't worry- I had it over half term. Found strong tasting things helpful for the weird nausea that accompanies it- tangfastics, chilli, salt and vinegar etc.

My hubby had this he described it as a medicinal taste to everything he ate . It's now subsiding after 2 weeks

CourtRand · 24/02/2022 23:47

I always know I'm getting I'll because my spit starts to taste gross. Illness (and especially COVID) affects our sense of taste.

@SugarAndCoffee I partly agree but my husband knew vinegar made it worse so he wouldn't put it on his chips, or add ketchup. It was all trail and error until it went away. So we did avoid as much we can do he can eat and not waste. Maybe everyone different.
