Does anyone know what will happen from Thursday re nurseries? Currently if a child has a new cough they have to pcr and isolate until the results come through? Will it go back to pre covid rules of coughs snd colds fine as long as child well in themselves?

It'll depend on individual settings.

I would imagine that individual nurseries will have their own sickness policies as they have with other illnesses. Obviously if PCR tests are no longer widely available, they can't insist on those.

I suspect guidance will be issued, probably on Wednesday night given the normal amount of notice given.

Thanks all. Rather stressed if guidance changes everywhere and nurseries stay the same but I guess if no pcrs I have no idea!

I have a horrible feeling that some will insist on isolation if you don't have any LFT's left which will piss a lot of people off!

I'm going to be sending out new policies for my setting this week, your nursery probably will too.

What's your new policy?
GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 21/02/2022 16:32

I'm not insisting on testing or isolation but be sensible and don't send ill children (no temps or needing Calpol, runny nose and coughs are fine) because if I catch it and can't work than you'll still need to keep your child at home, possibly for longer if it goes around my family (I'm a childminder)

That's a perfectly logical approach - hopefully others follow suit!
