Isolation for NHS Staff

I'm in NI and rules re isolation aren't changing here (yet). But what will happen next week in England if someone who works in the NHS tests positive? Will they still isolate?

I doubt they would be paid to

So how will that work?

Wedonttalkabout · 20/02/2022 12:01

Yes currently, due to vulnerability of population my trust is still encouraging isolation where household members are positive

The reality is each Trust can decide on their own needs, our trust shows no signs of dropping social distancing for example and masked wearing and hasn't done so even when it was dropped more widely

In the same way they ask people with d&v to stay home (paid) for a fixed period, it's not a law but widely followed in care settings

No change in my trust. We still isolate like we always have done.

No in my trust we don't isolate, even for household members now. Take a PCR then daily lft and stay in work. In reality I moved to video consults when child was ill as would have needed carers leave. There are risk assessments procedures for if you work with CEV people but most my patients aren't as Paediatric.

Thanks all, that sounds reassuring. Where I work isolation is continuing for those who test positive, not for close contacts or household contacts (if tests are negative then its risk assessment depending on area of work and is CEV). Was just wondering in light of the public changes would there be any difference for NHS. It can change so quickly though so who knows

Hospitals will set their own policies. Ours have a lot of hoops to jump through if you have household contacts so I doubt there’s any chance of letting staff with Covid in. I’d imagine it will be paid the same as it has been so far in our trust - special leave for isolating due to a contact, sick pay once you test positive yourself.

I doubt hospital rules will change at all. It took my trust 20 months to allow a second parent to visit for 2 hours a day!
