France travel, no booster

Just a quick one, I’m double vaccinated but not had a booster. I’ve just recovered from Covid this week. It’s my understand that with proof of recovery I can travel to France. Is my NHS Covid pass, which has details of my 2 vacs and my positive PCR 2 weeks ago enough or do I need to get a certificate of recovery from a private online doctor site? (Or are these guys just cashing in on something we already have?) Thanks.

Surely you can read the government travel rules and figure it out?

Lacdepassy · 18/02/2022 16:50

The nhs app will provide evidence of recovery as a QR code. I thought this was enough? I hope do, as I am travelling yo France tomorrow!

bluebeach · 18/02/2022 23:02

It just says a certificate of recovery. Yes you would assume the QR code in the app would suffice but I don’t want to find out that it doesn’t when I’m there. I actually don’t think it’s that clear.
@Lacdepassy have a great time!

Just to add if you haven’t had the booster you won’t be able to go to any bars or restaurants etc.

bluebeach · 18/02/2022 23:38

@Homewardboundtoukut this info on the french embassy site says that the covid pass can include a recent recovery certificate or 3 vaccinations. Is that not the case?

The gov.uk website seems to say that France will accept NHS covid recovery certificate (it says recovered from covid above the QR code for your positive PCR test), but then goes on to say that if your 2nd vaccine was over 9 months ago and you have not had booster, you are treated as unvaccinated.

Not sure if that is any help at all, or if it just muddies the waters further 🤦‍♀️

Lacdepassy · 19/02/2022 06:08

If you put the nhs covid recovery into the touiscovid app - it seems to work fine. There is another thread on the skiing section who stated that this was used without any issue...

Bullandbush · 19/02/2022 06:14

I'm not sure but whatever you have for restaurants and bars if their scanner doesn't ping successfully you'll be turned away.

bluebeach · 19/02/2022 06:53

@Lacdepassy thank you, yes ideally I wanted to hear that someone had used it and it had worked so that’s good.

And if you want to test your pass vaccinal you can download the tous Covid Verif app - that’s the one the bars etc are using here in France

Homewardboundtouk · 19/02/2022 17:46

We have a restaurant in France and finding that only booster QRs are working. Its all very confusing for everyone.

OneSwallow · 19/02/2022 18:07

So really, in France no one who hasn’t had the booster can enter? That extreme?

OneSwallow · 20/02/2022 08:39

Bump

Lacdepassy · 20/02/2022 09:43

@bluebeach we are in France at the moment and had dinner in a restaurant last night where all our passed were scanned using the Tous app.

Dd who used her covid recovery qr code worked perfectly Smile

OneSwallow · 20/02/2022 10:03

I wonder if this will apply to those eating outside in the summer?

Watapalava · 20/02/2022 12:54

You do not need booster for France

Watapalava · 20/02/2022 13:00

I mean you don’t need it if you have recovery

The fact that a restaurant or place finds it difficult does not mean that you are not allowed in

OneSwallow · 20/02/2022 19:48

@Watapalava

You do not need booster for France
But you do!! You have to have had the booster within nine months of the last vaccine. Which leaves me a week. It looks like I will not be able to eat out at all otherwise. I’m not going till September. The rules might have changed by then . I don’t know what to do.
bluebeach · 21/02/2022 13:13

@Lacdepassy amazing! Thanks so much for reporting back. Hope you are all having an amazing time.
@OneSwallow by September I’m sure things will be different… might be be on 5th booster by then… although hopefully not.

OP posts:
SandalsAndSox · 22/02/2022 07:24

@OneSwallow you’ve misunderstood the rule totally! The nine months bit simply means that when your second vaccine is nine months old it expires and you THEN you need a booster. Ignore the word ‘within’ as it’s causing confusion.

Wait and see. Rules will likely change. I’m in a similar position myself regarding summer holidays and booster (and lack thereof)

OneSwallow · 22/02/2022 07:27

Yes I know that. My last vaccination was end of May last year so I have one week to ge the booster to keep me within that time frame die travel in September. That keeps me to nine months. Now there is talk of Autumn boosters. I don’t want a booster or any more vaccines. I hope the rules will cha be again, but it’s a minefield.

SandalsAndSox · 22/02/2022 17:06

But @OneSwallow it still sounds like you’re confused; it doesn’t matter if you have a gap of a year or even more between your second dose and booster. They don’t care if you ‘fall behind’ with your vaccine schedule.

Assuming the rules don’t change, they only want you to have had a recent/ up to date vaccine at the time of travel. It doesn’t matter how much time elapsed between doses in the past. Does that make sense?

I don’t want any boosters either but I still think you’ve misunderstood!

OneSwallow · 22/02/2022 18:39

The information clearly says that the booster must have been administered NO MORE than nine months AFTER the last vaccine. My last vaccine was end of May , so I have till the end of this month to get the booster. The time of travel is beginning of September. My vaccine will not be up to date as it will be a year and a half since the last vaccine. The vaccinations I have had are already considered defunct. The don't show on the NHS app any longer.

bluebeach · 22/02/2022 22:59

I think France have actually reduced the time you can leave between your last injection and your booster, down to 4 months.

OP posts:
OneSwallow · 22/02/2022 23:22

Have they? Where is the info on that please? Trying to keep track of all the changing rules is so hard.
