I'm trying to make a decision about the vaccine for my children. My main fear is that my children develop long covid if the catch the virus. I caught covid back in July 21 and I'm still struggling with long covid and was wondering if there's a link between a parent having LC and their hildren likely to suffer with it too.

Haven't seen anything but I suppose there might be. I think I've read of one or two families where a child and a parent has it, certainly.

But surely knowing how long term the effects of Covid can be, would make you want to protect your DC from it as much as possible?

There is emerging medical evidence that vaccines help decrease the likelihood of long Covid isn't there.

Not for us. Covid in May 2020. Only I have long Covid.

Both me and my son had long covid after infection in 2020. My son has covid again now and I'm worried about LC again as he is too young for vax

Both me and my son did spring 2020, but he's not a child, both NHS and got large viral dose from separate patients a month apart. He wasn't as bad as I was though. Was 8 months before he could resume his normal exercise and he mostly managed to work through it after initial 3 weeks off with a couple of relapses with a week off during the early months after. I couldn't work for a year and then very part time. I'm glad it was that way as I'm semi retired and just do bank shifts so can work when it suits me although obviously took a financial hit. Still got some very mild symptoms coming up to two years in March since I had it but have felt a lot better last few weeks and been working more.

Both DH and I have long covid.

One of my DC took a month or two to fully regain his usual stamina after his first covid infection, and had a cough that took a while to fully clear after his second. Neither of which I would properly characterise as “long covid”.

The other DC shrugged off covid with barely any symptoms.

No, although ds1 who seems to inherited my crappy immune system (lots of allergies, doesn't make lasting covid antibodies) took 4 months to fully get over his first infection. But he did and infections 2 and 3 were mild for him w no noticeable after effects.
