Hi,
I'd recommend posting on one of the main boards so more people see your post. I can't imagine many of us know the rules for masks on Mexico flights.

Hi @Danukok, we're going to move your thread over to our Covid topic as we think you're more likely to get some responses to your question there.

We really hope you all get the holiday you need. Flowers

Hi

AmbushedByCake1 · 17/02/2022 16:58

Hi OP. Mask rules differ by airline. Most require children over 6 to wear a mask. You would have to check with your carrier.

Given your children are high needs do you think you may be better off going somewhere with a shorter flight?

Hi, do you mean on the flight or when in Mexico? We've just come back from Mexico and flew with TUI, we didn't have any children with us but on the flight it was the same as the rules had been in the UK children under a certain age weren't asked to wear a mask. It was still being enforced on the flight with regular announcements on the tannoy etc. for those who can wear them. In Mexico itself it's still required to wear them in any indoor spaces and people who were at their workplace wore them all the time even if outdoors, but I don't think I saw children wearing them. A staff member we spoke to at the hotel told us their president has said they will be wearing masks until 2024! Anyway, we had an absolutely lovely holiday so I'm sure you'll all have a great time :)

Not sure if the guidance has changed but one of the reasons why we didn’t go was because at the time all tourists over 2 had to wear masks to restaurants / on public transport even when locals did not & knowing how well Mexican police like to target tourists from last time I went I decided to go elsewhere. Bear in mind the flight is long and you and the kids may be required to wear masks through all / part of it depending on the connections.

Sorry, just reread your original post - just to add there were adults who would have, under the general rules, have been required to wear a mask but if they weren't we never saw anyone be challenged about it, I think there is the same general understanding that if someone isn't wearing one it's because they have sufficient reason not to be. I think especially as they are children I really don't think they'll be asked to wear one and if they were an explanation would be accepted. There were a small number of adults on our flight not wearing them and they weren't challenged about it, I think people just assume if someone isn't then it's becasue they have a reason I think you'll all be fine

When I flew to Mexico in the summer, mask wearing was enforced on the flight (aeromexico) and everyone wore masks both inside and outside (Mexico City).

I think it will be more lax in areas frequented by tourists from the US.
