What’s our chances of catching it after contact with someone?

Went to friends house at weekend. Their son was coughing away in the kitchen and Lo and behold he has covid. His LFTs were negative while we were there. My son shared a room with him and hung out with him all night. My girls not so much so but had dinner at table with him. My kids had covid in sept (somehow me and DH didn’t catch it), my son was quite bad. Covid has been rife at school but kids don’t seem to have got jt. I’m wondering if they are still immune. My ds has had first vaccine. Me and DH triple vaxxed - last one in December. What are our chances of getting it? We Found out while we’re on holiday in self catering cottage and my DF has pancreatic cancer so is quite vulnerable (he’s with us). We saw them sat/sun and it’s now Wednesday. Our LFTs are negative just now.

There seems to be a lot of luck involved - we spent a whole day indoors with my sister a few weeks ago, including little ones hugging, coughing in each others faces etc. Two days later they all tested positive, we did daily lateral flows as close contacts but none of us ever tested positive. None of us have had it before, as far as we’re aware. DC too young to be vaccinated, adults all fully vaccinated and recently boosted.

It’s hard to tell really, pp is right that there seems to be a lot of luck involved.

All you can do is what you are already doing.
