We've just had to look into this as DH had covid last week and is off to USA today.
After hours of trawling through info and going round in circles, it seems these private companies who do recovery certificates require a pcr test to start with.
The other option that some other people had suggested and successfully done was to get a letter from the gp that your fit to fly/ post 10 days. Obviously this depends on your surgery and will likely incur a fee, but cheaper than some of the private companies.
As it was, hubby got a negative predeparture lft so didn't require one.
Hope that helps.

Doubt it. Think only something through the NHS will be official. I don't white understand why you can't use the app? Is it because you tested later?

helsbels1973 · 16/02/2022 10:40

Sadly Finland won't accept LFT due to the rules changing yesterday - so I was going to pay the money and obtain through Medicspot however wanted anyone's experince before I paid - hanks.l

Tested on a LFT not a PCR....so results aren't recorded. Travelling is becoming painful :(

But if you didn't take a PCR then you can't 'prove' that you're 'recovered'.

If you're fully vaccinated, what's the problem?

orangina01 · 16/02/2022 13:02

We used Mayfield Clinic for our child who needed one to fly to the US. But we had a PCR result. Not sure how it works with LFT. Letter was fine and was accepted by the airline at the airport. It was £150.

orangina01 · 16/02/2022 13:04

Ps does NOT need to be an NHS letter. In fact most Gap's won't do them. Our GP wouldn't anyway.

helsbels1973 · 16/02/2022 14:19

thanks everyone - Medicspot are Trust pilot registered so I think I will just pay and obtain one from here.

Travel is the OP's issue as they may or may not test positive on a PCR still. Whilst most people don't continue to test positive in PCRs for that long, it is possible to continue to test positive for up to 90 days. This is reduced and far less likely with LFTs.

However, for almost all 'recovery from covid' certificates you need to have taken a PCR at the time of catching covid as your proof. An LFT is usually not deemed as proof as they could easily be falsified.

Not all countries accept the nhs app's 'recovery' code. Some request an authorised letter from a HCP. However, both of these options usually require that all important PCR test done originally.

Few places, if any, accept an antibody test result.

From the medicspot's own website, in the FAQs for recovery certificates,

Medicspot will only accept an LFT if it was performed in a lab, not a self administered one at home.
Watapalava · 16/02/2022 14:42

Finland DOES NOT accept uk recovery cert so you cannot travel anyway:

"Proof of recovery from COVID-19 will not be accepted for travellers from the UK demonstrating their COVID-19 status."

You MUST be fully vax to go from UK

Watapalava · 16/02/2022 14:51

You can be single vax and recovered (on one certificate) but not 'only recovered'

Which are you OP? If travelling though i havent heard of one country accepting lft as easy to fake

Watapalava · 16/02/2022 14:54

Also - sorry to be bearer of bad news - but you are only considered recovered after 10 days so if you travel in 4 days and you tested after 11 Feb then you wont be 'recovered' in time

orangina01 · 16/02/2022 17:12

It doesn't sound like you'll be recovered in time to get a cert online, but I may be reading dates wrong. You mentioned Finland has changed their rules to not accept LFT, but lots of countries do. This is from November :

privateharleystreetclinic.com/blogs/covid-19-information/which-countries-are-currently-accepting-rapid-antigen-tests-for-entry-from-the-uk

Let us know how you get on.

Watapalava · 16/02/2022 19:15

If not single vax AND recovered from UK you cannot go regardless of test

The recovery only rule only applies to EU members who have the EU pass. There is no permitted UK substitute for it. Are you insured?

Finland seems to be quite strict still compared to other places.

Watapalava · 16/02/2022 19:16

Orangina01

That list applies to countries who accept an lft to get in

Not countries who accept an lft as proof of having had covid

orangina01 · 16/02/2022 19:31

@watapalava yes sorry I should have clarified, that's what I meant.

Whathefisgoingon · 16/02/2022 20:32

Can I ask, how long before the NHS recovery certificate is added to your covid pass section on the app? I’m on day 11 and whilst my vaccine passes have been back on the app for a couple days now, there is no sign of the recovery certificate.

119 said that once 10 days have elapsed post PCR then it will appear, does this sound right? As it hasn’t been 10 days since that yet.

Abraxan · 17/02/2022 13:23

19 days after the registered PCR I think. I'm sure that's when mine appeared.

Lft and symptoms were earlier, but only pcr referenced for recovery.

Abraxan · 17/02/2022 14:34

10 not 19!

Stellaknows2022 · 05/03/2022 09:18

Hi-has anyone successfully used the medicspot certificate of recovery, I need one for my 10 year old to get into Italy. Thanks
