If you've had post covid fatigue what helped?

Resting or pushing yourself?

Feeling pretty sorry for myself as I don't seem to be getting much better. I'm only 5 weeks in but it feels like forever!

I feel your pain. I have found that one day in bed = normal next day. But obviously this is completely impractical.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 16/02/2022 19:01

I'm the same as PP, I need a day of doing absolutely nothing which is difficult with young kids, but I need to just stay in and lounge around. I've tried to push through and it's made me worse. I have shortness of breath and chest pain still too, also 5 weeks in.

TSJ19 · 16/02/2022 19:03

Hi im also around 5 weeks in and feel exactly the same and im still suffering with chest pain and get out of breath easily

Bunnybunny1 · 17/02/2022 15:15

There must be something we can do.
I’m going to look into B12 injections and maybe doing Keto diet so the sugar’s not keeping the virus fed. #psuedoscience

Kefir etc to boost your gut bacteria. Study suggests gut bacteria play a role in your immune response to covid. www.kcl.ac.uk/coronavirus-how-to-keep-your-gut-microbiome-healthy-to-fight-covid-19

Pennox · 17/02/2022 16:21

where do you get B12 injections?

Bunnybunny1 · 17/02/2022 16:31

Beauticians generally do B12 injections now.

CovidCurious · 17/02/2022 18:07

Resting was the only thing that helped me. If you can, do that.

rosabright · 18/02/2022 19:17

I'm the same. 8 weeks in. I do feel like the fatigue is improving in the morning now and doesn't really set in until the afternoon. Previously I was getting up and having to lie down 2 hours later. Very hard with a baby! I just wish it would go away - I'm in tears following my LO around the house between 3-5pm waiting for my OH to come in from work and take the baby as I am so exhausted.

GirlInACountrySong · 18/02/2022 19:32

a colleague has this. its horrific, he just cant get well again

Januarypip · 19/02/2022 10:50

Sorry for everyone else suffering it's horrible!

I'm also finding it tricky explaining to friends/family/colleagues.
Still signed off work but I feel like an idiot say I feel tired and need naps!

They are saying it can be six months to recover sufficiently to work again as before in many cases.

Many people have ME/chronic fatigue which is very similar and pacing themselves helps them. (ie rest a lot and do a little and don’t go mental doing too much housework one day as it will set you back for days after) Look into the advice on ME sites. Doing too much sets you back.

I hope you feel better soon. Apparently there is a 100% recovery rate from long covid. Not sure where that stat came from but it certainly sounds reassuring.

ineedsun · 19/02/2022 11:40

Rest, progressive overload with exercise doesn’t work with long covid and makes it worse. I’m two years in. Vitamin D, antihistamine for the breathing and long term as few processed foods as possible seems to help. I also now take inhalers for asthma that I didn’t have before covid.

Knackered, for months now, this is very useful
