Have just done a rapid antigen as I am travelling tomorrow. And instead of a line there is the opposite: a whiteout. What on earth does it mean? Please tell me it's negative !Confused

Could be a faulty test, can you do another one?

MaizeAmaze · 12/02/2022 15:30

If it's a travel one, what do you need to do with the result?
Do you have an NHS, none traveling, one you can do just to see what happens?

RagzRebooted · 12/02/2022 15:32

Mine do this if I don't leave them flat for long enough. It's still negative.

ToffeeCentre · 12/02/2022 15:32

I'm not in the UK. I was testing for my own peace of only as I'm travelling to attend a small wedding.

Do you think I should do another test?

Some of the flow tests do this, make sure you put in the correct number of drops in.

ToffeeCentre · 12/02/2022 15:33

ragz my test was flat all along ? But I'm very cheered that you think it's negative.

That looks like dye run off to me. If you tilt an unused cartridge (or even a used one though it can be harder to see) in the right light you can see the differently textured strip areas intended to change colour for the control and the test lines.

On that basis I would say that’s a negative but would recommend doing another for piece of mind.

MaizeAmaze · 12/02/2022 16:48

Yeah, I'd do another one for peace of mind.

Nootkah · 13/02/2022 15:01

Thats negative. As the pink dye moves all the way through the area around the test line will go white and it wont be so obvious. That little white area is where the stuff that will capture the antigen/antibodies if you have covid is.
