Positive LFT - rest of house isolates?

Apologies but our last household +ive was over a year ago, with all the changes since then I wanted to be sure we are doing the right thing?

One adult in the house has a +ive LFT. Rest are (currently) negative. All either don't work or WFH, so isolating at home for now is simple enough, if needs be. Only the person who is +ive is vaccinated.

Am I right in thinking we should all isolate as unvaccinated? (even though negative atm). Is that 10 days as of today?

For the person who is +ive, as I understand it they can start testing from day 5, and 2 neg tests mean they no longer have to isolate...but possibly at that point the rest of household still do?

Thanks!

Yes the unvaccinated people need to isolate for 10 days

The +ve person can test on day 5 and 6 and if both are negative can leave isolation early. If they are still positive they continue to isolate until they get 2 consecutive negative tests or they reach the end of 10 days, whichever comes first

I think what is said above is spot on. I believe that under 18s don’t have to isolate regardless of vaccination status.

Fishandcushion · 08/02/2022 17:06

Thank you, that's helpful. No under 18s in the household.

Bit annoying as we are due to attend a family party on Sunday, the first thing we've had planned in months. Sod's law I guess!

You should’ve got vaccinated and you could have gone

Thiswayorthatway · 08/02/2022 17:29

Get the vaccine for everyone’s sake

Autumn101 · 08/02/2022 17:34

Yes that’s correct - one of my DC is positive so DH has to isolate for 10 days. He was vaccinated overseas (double Pfizer plus booster) but they won’t accept it so he is classed as unvaccinated by track and trace and has to stay home. Annoying but not much we can do!

Seeing that the vaccinated can catch it and pass it on, I'm not sure if there is much scientific basis for them to be able to go out and about with a LFT, but not the unvaccinated. Seems more about inconveniencing them than actually being in the interests of public health.

The medically exempt from vaccination are also able to carry on as normal.

It is very much about basically blackmailing everyone into it.

Fishandcushion · 08/02/2022 18:31

The +ive person seems likely to have caught this at a local event, probably from an (asymptomatic) vaccinated person.

It's one of those things that we'll miss out on the party and doesn't change my/our decision about vaccination. TBH even if we were vaccinated I'd have been wary of attending now given there will be a few older people present.
