Positive PCR (for travel) within 90 days post infection

I am due to fly home to see family at the end of the month, however I’ve just tested positive and the country I am flying to will require a pre departure PCR/LFT, PCR on arrival and 3 day PCR.

I have read that you shouldn’t have a PCR within 90 days of infection as you can get a false positive, but is this likely or am I worrying unnecessarily?

There’s nothing you can do unfortunately but wait and see. All tests for travel are private, but if it’s a LFT that’s required, you will know after your isolation whether it’s negative. You could book a private PCR test a few days after your isolation has ended just to see if you are testing positive.

@Mindymomo I think the issue is that even if I get a negative, the next one could pick up old fragments and show positive!

I’m amazed there isn’t something in place for this scenario considering this does happen.

@Whathefisgoingon

what happened in the end did you still test positive? Facing a similar scenario.

Can you get an official PCR now to show you have had covid? Some countries accept that instead of pre trave/arrival PCRs

@JollyWilloughby

We tested negative 😊
