I feel so alone

Tested positive nearly 3 weeks ago. I've been quite unwell and still recovering. I think I overdid it yesterday and been paying the price for it.

Everyone else I know that has had Covid recently has recovered fairly quickly.

I have been able to manage my illness at home with medication, and know that it could've been a lot worse. I'm thankful for that. But, I'm just feeling so low and upset at how this virus has affected me.

I miss being able to do the things that bring me joy.

I've just had enough of feeling awful.

I can relate to this. I had covid nearly 4 weeks ago and still feel that I'm struggling. Everyone else seems to be eager to tell me how mild it is etc.
I've gone back to work but I'm exhausted and still needing paracetamol in the morning to feel able to get up and go.
I do feel slightly better today, so I'm hoping this is the shift towards normal again.

homeappliances · 05/02/2022 09:53

I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough time too. I hope you continue to make improvement. I'm on a phased return to work and feel completely wiped out.

What things have helped you get better? I

I’m with you, everyone else I know who has had it just said it’s like a bad cold. I’m now a month after having covid, it has developed into pulmonary embolism about two weeks ago and I am exhausted, just genuinely and utterly exhausted. My heart is still going crazy and I’m scared that it won’t get better…

BlueJag · 05/02/2022 20:14

Give yourself 6 weeks. I was dragging myself for at least 6 weeks. So exhausted 😩

brio4ever · 05/02/2022 21:35

I tested positive for covid 2 weeks ago, but after "completing" isolation, and testing negative on LFT, my symptoms worsened. Turns out I had a second chest infection at the same time as covid, from which I'm still recovering. Fun times!Sad

Harecaughtinheadlights · 06/02/2022 14:30

@Motherofcats007 I’ve got covid at the moment, what were your symptoms of a pulmonary embolism? As that it one thing that really frightens me.
My heart rate is high too and won’t come down. I’m on my day 2/3 though and have a fever which I had overnight into today.

PinkPlantCase · 06/02/2022 14:37

Hi OP I’m on day 10 now and it’s made everyone in house so poorly. It really grating on me hearing everyone say how mild it is and that most people only have a runny nose.

I’ve been really ill in the past and all I can say is time is a great healer. Pace yourself careful and allow time to heal things.

I think when you’ve been ill for a long time you start to appreciate different things. Eg when I’m able I really enjoy cooking a nice dinner, I could of had a shit day but if I’m able to get up and do myself a nice dinner I’m happy.

homeappliances · 06/02/2022 14:50

@Motherofcats007 gosh, I hope you are recovering. How did you find out you had a pulmonary embolism?

@BlueJag thank you. I think that I'm getting my head round to the fact that this recovery is going to take time.

@brio4ever I also had a chest infection from Covid and was on steroids/ antibiotics. My breathing has improved, the tightness has eased but it's not normal.

You're not alone; facing another week off despite "being out" at the end of last week. I honestly think the last few days have been the worst!

I feel the fact they class long Covid as post 3 months shows some take that long to feel ok.

WarriorN · 06/02/2022 14:52

Chest infection and steroids are enough to blow me out for a couple of weeks so please go easy on yourself Thanks

homeappliances · 06/02/2022 14:54

@Harecaughtinheadlights I know what you mean about heart rate. Mine has been very high too, it's horrible.

@PinkPlantCase I'm learning to pace myself and give myself permission to rest.

Thank you to everyone that's replied and your reassurance Daffodil

Thanks @WarriorN. I felt worse yesterday than I did at the beginning of the week. Every time I think I've turned a corner it seems to whallop me again.

Hi i am exactly the same. I think i must of tested positive around 4 weeks ago. Im constantly exhausted still. Its horrible.

Motherofcats007 · 06/02/2022 15:32

@homeappliances@Harecaughtinheadlights

I was feeling really out of breath one day and my heart rate was consistently over 120 at resting. I’m also very pregnant with gestational diabetes so that also increases my risks. I called 111 who sent an ambulance for me. The doctors at A&E initially had ruled out PE because I was already on blood thinner for 10 days after covid, but because of the risks and there no other explanation to my symptoms, they ordered a scan ‘just to rule out PE’. After the scan the doctor was like… so happy you consented to doing the CT scan despite the radiation risks because you have multiple clots in your lungs. I was shocked!!

I’m only starting to feel bit better two weeks on. It’s been rough

WarriorN · 06/02/2022 16:29

Bloody hell mother. I hope you and little one are ok. Can they give you anything to help?

I'm exceptionally fatigued but I don't feel like the inflammation has gone. I feel like I was still battling the virus yesterday. Asthma playing up now.

brio4ever · 06/02/2022 17:09

Interesting, I've had a very high heart rate too with my covid/2nd chest infection. I saw a doctor late Friday as I was fed up of having no voice, and concerned that I was coughing up red phlegm and my chest pain was worsening. Also got sent straight up to hospital, for blood tests to rule out clots. They were concerned as my resting heart rate was over 120, I ended up having an chest X-ray and ecg as well. Thankfully all fine and just indicated a second infection. If this was mild covid I'm very glad I haven't caught it before now, and am triple jabbed!

Motherofcats007 · 06/02/2022 20:53

@WarriorN I’m on blood thinners now, just trying to find out the implications of this. Luckily I’ve already decided on a c section so hopefully it will be a lot more controlled and planned

Motherofcats007 · 07/02/2022 07:51

Just to add I’m case anyone is reading this, I’ve had all my jabs inc booster. So I can’t imagine how bad it would’ve been if I haven’t been vaccinated

homeappliances · 07/02/2022 08:34

That must have been so scary @Motherofcats007 DaffodilSo lucky that you had that scan. I hope you continue to improve.

It stinks to be tired for so long. It can help to reframe having to take care of yourself - illness sometimes is a sign we have been over-doing things even before we became ill, and we need to slow down for a bit and just think about how to take better care even after we feel better, how to build up health.

It's important to slow down sometimes.

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 08/02/2022 00:06

Please know you're not alone OP. I had covid 6 months ago and still struggling. Been left with long covid so I'm now incredibly forgetful/mind blanks etc. Random muscle/bone aches, lethargy. Symptoms come and go. Seem OK. Then come back. Single mum of 2. Its so tiring. I have felt alone in that people around me just don't get it at all. I didn't feel myself for a good 3 months. I can't really explain it, but I felt I had changed. I feel more myself now, but not like old me. Its been a really tough time tbh. All we can do is support each other and be kind to ourselves by taking it slowly and allowing ourselves to feel it. Hoping you a much speedier recovery Flowers
