Is another PCR needed for fever if tested positive at beginning of January?

DS had a positive PCR on January 4th. He did 10 days isolation as was testing positive on LFT until day 10. He's had a bit of a runny nose for a couple of days and not himself this evening, have just checked and he has a temperature. Does he need another PCR test? Advice online is very confusing - I thought there was no point doing a PCR within 90 days as it was likely to be positive still, but it seems to say do one with new symptoms? I don't want him missing more school for a positive test caused by the January infection, but equally don't want him to spread it if it's covid. Could it be a covid reinfection so quickly? Any advice welcome, thank you.

Yes he does, sorry.

Yes, as has symptoms. No routine testing without symptoms though.

Thanks both, that's what I thought but it's so confusing I wasn't sure. Will try to book one first thing, hopefully it will be negative and results will be back in time for him to go in on Monday!

It's advised to test again if new symptoms show up. It will let you book! It's such a skewed system.

Dd had covid twice in a month. December and a month later in January!

Hopefully it'll be negative. Lots of other viruses about. Neither of mine even had a fever with covid!
