Test to release - twice in one day?

Hi, couldn’t really think how to word the subject so probably doesn’t make any sense but hopefully this will.

I tested positive last Thursday, only had faint tests all the way through (I tested to see if they went darker and never had really strong lines like my ds has). Anyway, today I am day 6, I had a really faint line on day 4, negative yesterday on day 5 when I could begin testing, but back to really faint line today.

So, my question is, I had automatically thought ‘oh well I’ll test again tomorrow morning and hope for a negative then and again on Friday morning ’. But, do I have to wait till tomorrow before testing again? Could I test this afternoon and if negative then I’d need another negative tomorrow afternoon (so 24 hrs later).

I know I should probably just be more patient but I’m a single parent and hate having to rely on others for school runs for my children.

The government website says the tests need to be on consecutive days, and 24 hours apart, by the looks of things.

"For instance, if an individual is positive on day 5, then a negative test is required on both day 6 and day 7 to release from self-isolation, or positive on day 6, then a negative test is required on days 7 and 8, and so on until the end of day 10."

Yesterday's negative is canceled out by today's positive, I think; and you'd need to test tomorrow and Friday.

You need to be reporting the lateral flow tests as well to show test & trace that your negative on the days

You need 2 negative tests 24 hours apart

Any positive tests then you cannot leave isolation until you have those 2 negatives, 24 hours apart

Thank you, I’ve been back on gov.uk website and seen that now, must’ve missed it when I looked before so does seem that you take one test for that day and that’s that.

Yeah I knew that todays positive cancels yesterdays negative so I needed two more negatives, so hoping for tomorrow and Friday.

That's not stipulated in the rules actually. They don't email you confirming that you can leave isolation after you upload two negative tests 24 hours apart.

I have reported the negative lateral flow yesterday, didn’t do todays positive as I’ve read of it confusing test and trace and it telling people their isolation is starting again
