Likelihood of catching it from family member after they’ve tested negative?

DD has Covid. Mild symptoms (temp last Thursday). Tested negative on Thursday evening, positive by Friday morning. Did a sneaky day 4 lateral flow on her today to gauge likelihood of early release from isolation. The faintest of faint lines so hopeful she may test negative tomorrow or soon thereafter.

Rest of family have been daily testing. All negative so far and no symptoms. Gov advice is to do that until Thursday.

My question is that if DD tests negative and is out of isolation by Thursday and we all clear 7 days of consecutive lateral flow tests by then too, are we likely out of the woods? Anyone tested positive after a family member tested negative? Thanks.

I suppose you could get it at any point while she is still infectious which could be when she lasts tests positive. You could then take a few days to show as positive.

Yes it took 7 full days after last contact for my dad to test positive having been in my daughters company and I was 5 days after she tested negative

Really? 5 days after she tested negative @Jesusmaryjosephandtheweedon?

Probably because Covid loses its infectiousness after 9 days according to research.

The reason I’m asking is to inform my decision on what things I may/may not do towards end of this week. Ie. Should I keep a low profile until the end of her 10 day isolation period even if she tests negative? Though of course according to guidelines I can be doing whatever I like, even now!

Yes 5 days after she was negative. Probably been infected a few days before and it took that length to show up. I had been antigen testing daily. (Same as your lateral flow) I dont think people are out of the woods once they start to test negative I'm afraid. Obviously gov advice is different but morally I wouldn't plan anything id be worried to give it to someone else who may not be as lucky
