I’m positive from Saturday. DD aged 19 months so far negative (swabbed in sleep)

Would be handy if she can go to grandparents so I can WFH.
I can’t believe she won’t catch it!

How are you testing her? The only reliable test at that age is PCR. It would be unusual for a toddler to test negative while you were positive (more common in babies).

I had it over Xmas and my breastfed daughter didn't catch it!

@Ozanj Same as I’ve tested myself? Up the nostrils circle 4/5 times each side blah blah. She’s a sound sleeper

@Crabbyboot that’s lucky! She only feeds maybe once a day. Obviously she gets cuddles too 😃

It's not actually. Some countries don't even PCR under 5. My DS 2.5 tested positive on a LF.

Surely if she's breast-fed you will be passing on antibodies and protecting her?
Sending her to GP isn't a great idea as you'd have already been infectious for a few days before testing positive so she could already have caught it from you and then might give it to the GP.

Well that's news to me :o my 5mo tested positive on a normal home test (not in UK).

I’m obviously hoping for the anti bodies.

It’s a bit hit and Miss isn’t it

Out of our house of 5 people, 2 have it. Me and teenager DD. DH and other 2 children don’t currently. So they are obviously at work/school.

It seems quite random tbh. A few people I know have it atm and most have about 50/50 split in household with who has caught it and hasn't!

1TheCircle · 31/01/2022 14:33

@Hugasauras yes seems to be!

So basically we need another half person to test positive 😆

Breastfed DS caught it off me before anyone else did. We do co-sleep for part of the night though so that probably didn’t help

Sandyjag · 31/01/2022 20:02

Breastfed DD 5 caught it at school. And then had a fever for a few days. I guess it was wishful thinking that bf could protect completely although who knows if she would have caught it sooner or been iller if I wasn’t triple vaxxed and she wasn’t bf. I imagine it’s
More protective for a younger baby drinking gallons of milk as then the milk has a really core immune function but that’s just a guess.

Well she’s positive today! I hardly even got up her nose. Just a bit of snot and it worked Shock

She’s 100% fine and normal though! Not even a cold!

My DS has had a really upset stomach with it Sad we’ve been told to stop giving him solids and I’m so knackered giving him breastmilk full time again, he’s nearly 8 months.

Hope you’re DD has an easier time with it. Sorry to hear she didn’t avoid it all together.

1TheCircle · 02/02/2022 12:47

Seems to affect them all different.

Must be like having a new born again. I hope it’s over quick for you.
