Long-ish Covid: join if you are still unwell one month or more on

I tested positive mid December, and still haven’t gone back to work due to exhaustion and headaches. Plus some other random symptoms- achiness, ringing in ears, hot flushes.
It feels like a weird limbo. My job is very active and I know I couldn’t do it. On the other hand everyone around me that gets it is recovering quickly and back to work as soon as they test negative.
I wonder if anyone is in the same boat or has wise words of advice to share.

I was lucky and recovered quickly (aside from some tiredness) but know others who are in the same boat as you.

Have you tried taking anything for the exhaustion? I've just started on a tonic today which has been recommended by someone else who had tiredness after covid. It might be one small thing you can do to try and help.

I had the same thing last year, it took me 3 months to get back to work properly and 4 months to feel better. My smell is still off and my legs ache but it's tolerable. You need to rest.

Thank you both. @Patienceandgrace what is the tonic you’re taking?

Its this one - hope the picture has attached.
I only bought it today but another person recovering from Covid did recommend it so fingers crossed it works!

I had it in November. I am just exceptionally tired all the time. Can do a normal day, but frequently go to bed at 8 when the DCs are asleep. My immune system just seems to be a bit rubbish since having it too. I get cough after cough, and I don't normally suffer with them. Also on my 4th cold sore since November (having not had one in many, many years before then). Not sure if this is any sort of long covid, but I just feel very run down.

Sounds awful spacemonkey

I'm only a couple of weeks in and am going to bed at 8pm as soon as the kids are down too. Cant believe this could potentially go on for months Sad

MsNorth · 31/01/2022 13:14

@Spacemonkey2016 that sounds rotten. I live on my own, kids grown up, so I can easily rest while not working. It must be hard with little ones.

I’m wondering if she has anything to do with it. I’m 58. I’m normally fit and active but I’m feeling old right now.

I came to the board to look to see if anyone had ongoing symptoms, but not ill enough to be long covidish.

Tested positive on 28th December. Didn't feel too ill, just tired. 10/11 hours a night then an hour in the afternoon. Am back to normal activity levels but still get days when I am absolutely exhausted come 2pm. And if I don't have a lie down and nap, even if it's only 10 mins I am fast asleep by 10pm til 7am. Also keep getting headaches when I am not generally a headachey person. And my left thigh constantly aches and have just finished a 10 day period, the second one in 5 weeks.

Am a uni student and back in next week, 2 full days of lectures and seminars. On top of that have 2 dcs, do the admin for our business, have 2 horses and various other animals plus usual running around for afterschool stuff. Not sure how I am going to be able to do it.
