Infection between day 7&10 household member?

DS has Covid. Still getting a feint line today, Day 7. Still isolating.
The rest of us have all tested negative so can stop LFT as it's day 7.
However, if DS is still testing positive I assume that means he's infectious so could still pass on to us in the last remaining days of isolating?
He's mostly kept away from us playing Xbox in his room etc but we've eaten together the last couple of days as it was getting too difficult for him (windows open, distanced etc)
I have tickets to an event tonight but am wondering what the chances are I could still be incubating it and potentially pass on to friend at event?
Anyone know how risky the day 7-10 period is?

Yes, and the others could already be incubating it. I tested positive 8 days after all 3 of my kids did, thought I'd escaped it and them, wham, it got me. They were all fine by the time I came down with it.

I’ve been wondering this too. I’m in a similar situation. I do not really understand why the rules say a household member gets to stop testing on day 7 even if they live with somebody who is continuing to test positive of a LFD on days 8, 9 and 10 and therefore too contagious to leave the house.

Do t you have to LF for 10 days as a close contact?

SeeminglyOblivious · 30/01/2022 23:29

DH's day 1 was 1st Jan, mine was 2nd Jan and dc3's first symptom of high temp came on the evening of 8th Jan...so it's definitely possible ime.

@islamann

Not in England if you are fully vaccinated or under 18. You have to just do a LFD every morning for 7 days. That includes if you live with somebody who continues to test positive for 10 days and therefore has to isolate for 10 days. So on days 8, 9 and 10 your household member is too infectious to leave the house but household members can leave without testing.

My day 1 was my DD1’s day 8 and DD2’s day 7.
Dh tested positive on my day 6…
It’s entirely possible.
