This bloody cough

Currently on day 5 and this cough is horrendous. I can’t seem to help myself from coughing so violently and I barely get a break from it.

Does anyone have any tried and tested cures or at least aides? Honey and lemon isn’t cutting it.

Steamy shower or hot bath are the best things IMO. The cough is really horrible as well as exhausting.

So sorry you're suffering...sucking boiled sweets? Sipping cordial? I'm afraid mine lasted 3 weeks...just lost it this week...so annoying, especially in bed.

Wine. I know not normally recommended but only thing that has stopped it.

I’m on day 3…. And barely a cough!

Lots of other symptoms though. Can’t imagine I’ll be lucky enough to be having a negs on 5&6 at this rate.

So weird how people are affected differently.
Good luck with the cough cure

Codeine is great for coughs, alternatively the red Actifed has an antihistamine that works well.
Also sipping hot drinks constantly helps me

Nothing is working 😭

Codeine tablets @SandrasAnnoyingFriend?

They’re painkillers aren’t they?

Feeellostindirection · 30/01/2022 00:35

As an above poster put, codeine, it's a cough suppressor, so get cocodomol from the pharmacy. Use anything you might have already, like Vicks/olbus oil to help open airways. Steam inhalation might help if it's chesty. Having had covid over Christmas and then followed that up with pneumonia, I feel for you and op.

catwomando · 30/01/2022 00:38

Sorry you are suffering @DaffodilDandilion. I had covid with another respiratory infection on top. A lot of coughing for months.

The consultant recommended steam inhalation - no olbas oil needed, just the steam to help keep airways open, wear a scarf over your nose and mouth when going out to minimise the changes in air temperature causing a reaction and more coughing.

It should pass but is pretty horrible to live with. I hope you feel better soon.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 30/01/2022 09:08

You used to be able to buy codeine LI crud, not sure if that's still available. If not then cocodamol will have the same effect.

westcountryfaithful · 31/01/2022 19:10

Endless coughing here as well. Picked it up after Christmas so that’s 6 weeks or so.

It seems worse as a Pp said over night or when going outside from a warm house. Am getting better painfully slowly. Most annoying is that I still can’t take full breaths without coughing. So gym has been out of the question!
