Close contact testing for school kids

Do the school chase you if you don't test kids who have been asked test due to being close contact?

How could they? You don't register results with the school.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/01/2022 14:16

They don't ask about it. DS has been a close contact and I don't test him, you don't have to log results!

SouthOfFrance · 28/01/2022 14:23

No, how are they possibly going to do that? My children have been 'close contacts' of classmates for the past 2 or 3 months, are people genuinely lateral flowing their children every day as 'advised'? No of course not.

Giveaschitt · 28/01/2022 14:28

No. Also, I don't think its up to the schools to identify close contacts anyway - that should only be done by test and trace (who also don't chase whether you test or not - its 'guidance' only so not compulsory).

itwasntaparty · 28/01/2022 14:30

Do t the school have enough to do without that layer of shite?!

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 28/01/2022 14:31

They don’t ask for results, so no.

Schools do it now, that's been the case for a while.

Not according to the government website they shouldn't - www.gov.uk/government/publications/actions-for-schools-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak (last updated Jan 2022).

No we dont! As others have said we have enough other stuff to sort. Covid19 has added a whole extra layer of admin to wade through which we have to do alongside all the stuff we had to do before. No extra staff or paid hours for covid admin unfortunately. We hope parents are responsible and will test when asked. However we do check if someone who has symptoms has a negative PCR test before they return to school. And we do tell isolating children how long they need to isolate for. This is primary school.

Opihr · 28/01/2022 16:01

No, we don't. Our LA ask us to contact trace ( even though the DfE don't) and we send template letters asking close contacts to LFT for 7 days. We don't ask who does and who doesn't though, that's completely unrealistic .

isurvived3under2 · 28/01/2022 16:23

Our school has asked to see a negative LFT result every morning for the last 10 days. We have only just stopped.

TalkToTheHand123 · 28/01/2022 21:45

Must just be the PCR test results they were after. I may have been getting confused although not 100% sure. I haven't been pulled so mustn't have to!

Our school asks for LFTs for 7 days. Some parents will never test. Some will always.

frenchiemummy92 · 28/01/2022 21:57

Our school now suggests you LFT it there's been a certain number of cases in their classes although DD1 has been a close contact and I only found out yesterday through the other child's mum.
