Almost 2 weeks since testing positive and I feel Worse

I feel terrible today. I have had to do 2 school pick ups and i feel done in. Exhausted, lightheaded and shaky. My chest feels tight and almost like i haven't taken a deep enough breath. I do actually think i felt better last week when I was still positive. I have sinus tachycardia and feel like my heart rate is all over the place. I do take beta blockers for this. Just feel really tearful today.

I would call the gp for a telephone appt.
Are you able to take your oxygen levels?

Idontbelieveit14 · 26/01/2022 15:57

Ring 111.

I’m day 14 today and had to ring in sick today after 2 days back at work, I feel as bad today as the day i tested positive.

OnebusyMum · 26/01/2022 16:02

I've been exactly the same, headache, shaky, breathless and heart racing. Had my blood pressure taken yesterday, slightly low and having an ECG tomorrow, Id definitely get it checked out

TSJ19 · 26/01/2022 16:05

I have ordered an oximeter it should be here tomorrow or Friday. I spoke to my Gp this morning regarding my medication for my heart rate and she said to take it easy plenty of rest and lots of fluid. My beta blockers do slightly lower my blood pressure so that doesn't help with me feeling lightheaded. All i keep being told is that omicron is mild.

I'm reluctant to go and get checked out i was in A&E just after Christmas as my heart rate wouldn't go down and it was chaos and i was waiting for ages. I feel to unwell to be sitting in the waiting room for ages.

I am nearly 3 weeks post onset of symptoms. I've also had a 5 day course of antibiotics (double dose first day) for a secondary bacterial infection. I am still feeling pretty awful. Cough is lingering, headache and ear pain are still there. Last night I had a sore throat again. I have only left the house once - nothing strenuous and I came home exhausted.

Wondering whether to ask my GP to run some bloods? I feel absolutely drained, every day feels like walking through treacle. He did say the cough can last 5-6 weeks but it's the rest of it that is holding me back.

ChristmasMouseInHouse · 26/01/2022 21:51

I definitely felt worse after my 10 days of isolation than I did when I had COVID. The fatigue was unbelievable. I think it took about 6 weeks to actually feel "well" again.

TSJ19 · 27/01/2022 08:21

I have woken up feeling even worse today. I have a pain in my side but im not sure if thats from where i have been coughing. SavethePennies I would ask for some bloods to be taken, i hope you're feeling better soon. The thing is after the 10 days isolation is up people expect you to be instantly better. I keep being told its just a cold and to stop being lazy.

Is the pain when you take a breath? Could be a chest infection.

FredBair · 27/01/2022 14:57

I keep being told its just a cold and to stop being lazy.
It's not, and never was, just a cold for everyone.
"Mild" in a medical sense means not needing hospital, you can still be pretty ill.

nevergoesaway · 27/01/2022 15:26

This is the problem with everyone going around saying omicron is just a cold. It’s still covid and covid isn’t and never has been a cold. Yes in some people it only causes symptoms as severe as a cold for them, but in lots of people - me and everyone I know included who’s had it - it was so much worse than that.

Op you’re not lazy in the slightest, it took me a month to feel back to normal, at only 2 weeks since testing positive I was still struggling to get out of bed some days, and felt so weak. The fatigue lasted about 3 weeks and I was only just ok after a month or so.

I still don’t fully have my taste and smell back. I wish people would stop with this narrative that it’s no big deal, why can’t they understand that it is a big deal for a massive amount of sufferers! No it may not put you in hospital, but it’s still enough to knock you about and make you feel like absolute crap.

And that’s really disappointing your dr isn’t more helpful, I’m really surprised at that considering you’re on heart medication and covid is widely known to affect the heart in some people. I would keep ringing them and insist on being taken seriously - ask a friend or family member to back you up with this and speak on your behalf, I’ve found this really helps if needed.

OP please seek medical advice, today.
ring 111.
let us know how you get on.
good luck.

dontgobaconmyheart · 29/01/2022 09:57

Have you heard of POTS, OP? Covid appears to cause this in some patients, as well as would make it significantly flare up if you had the condition previously.

I have POTS and am usually tachy and feel as you describe. You can do a poor mans test by monitoring your HR at rest and then standing. If it is rising significantly (30 BPM+) then that would be worth discussing with your GP or cardiologist as a possibility.

That aside, it is by no means lazy to experience post viral fatigue and ongoing symptoms. It is an unfortunate fact of life and can ultimately yield very legitimate chronic illness. That's nothing new to covid but is an awful offshoot of becoming ill with a virus. Rest as much as you can OP, don't push yourself where you don't need to, there is no linear recovery from anything.
