I took an lft this morning, it's positive.

I have a 3 year old and a 15 month old. They are negative so far. DH is negative. DS due to go to preschool tomorrow.

Nanny is here today but is off tomorrow and Friday. DH has a massive work thing tomorrow.

Am I seriously supposed to not see my children? The baby is still breastfed. I can't not see me kids for a min of 6 days.

If you have young children then you're realistically not going to isolate from them. You could keep the kids home with you and dh goes to work if he tests negative each day.

MrsJaxTellerPlease · 26/01/2022 14:49

Of course you can see your children.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 14:50

Dh works from home.

I feel shitty as well. Idea of looking after both of them tomorrow is terrifying.

Fuck covid!!

DS now positive

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 14:58

Can dh take time off to look after them then?

Findahouse21 · 26/01/2022 14:59

Your nanny probably shouldn't come but other than that you don't need to isolate from people that you live with.

MadeForThis · 26/01/2022 15:01

We have had covid twice in the house. We have never attempted to isolate from the kids or each other.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 15:31

DH has a massive court case tomorrow. No chance of time off

OP posts:
WellThatsMeScrewed · 26/01/2022 15:54

You can’t seriously expect the nanny to look after your kids?

Really only on MN.

Yes being unwell while looking after small kids is horrendous but it is life and all parents have to do it at some point. You do what you can to get through the day.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 18:10

@WellThatsMeScrewed if they weren't positive and I isolated- yes, why not?

JanglyBeads · 26/01/2022 18:12

Isolation rules state that no one must come into your house.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 18:16

That's not true. If the person infected isolates properly they are to work as long as they are vaccinated.

Username3092997 · 26/01/2022 18:21

Of course you can see them. No one has ever said that those who are positive should shut themselves away in their own house. Imagine how hard it is for single parents or when both parents come down with covid.

I think your nanny should stay away too!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/01/2022 18:27

You don't need to isolate from your kids. That's never been a rule. I certainly would not have isolated from mine.

Picklesandbeans · 26/01/2022 18:40

Sending sympathy as I'm positive now and kids are but you wouldnt know it, but just have to get on with it like any other illness- your kids so you look after them.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 18:47

God why are people so arsey? Is there any need for that?

Obviously we are now all isolating given DS is positive.

OP posts:
rosie1959 · 26/01/2022 18:47

As others have said of course you can't isolate from you kids
It also depends how it affects you most I know have had cold like symptoms that they in normal times would just carry on
I have just had covid and didn't feel at all sick and didn't affect me apart from having to isolate from family outside the home

SummerHouse · 26/01/2022 18:52

It's tricky. I was glad in a way me and two DSs all tested positive together. None of us at all ill. It was actually a very positive positive experience.

You really are not to have people coming into your house when you are self isolating - regardless of their vaccination status

I’m a bit baffled as to why you think you have to isolate from your children?
DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 21:42

Well then you best let the NHS know because that's the information I got.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 21:44

Is she a live in nanny?
If not she shouldn't be coming into your house

You can't have your cake and eat it. You want to still see your children (understandably) but you also want your nanny to look after them, which you can only do if you isolate from them. Presumably she's not looking after them 24/7 so you'll have to suck it up and give her some time off. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon and testing negative by days 5 and 6.

dementedpixie · 26/01/2022 22:00

It says they may be able to work not that they must work. Your link also suggests they can choose not to if they think they could be at risk of catching covid from you.
