Positive LFT, negative PCR

I have been searching for guidance on the above, but can't find any!

DC:

Testing positive on LFT yesterday am.

Testing negative on PCR yesterday pm.

Testing positive on LFT today am.

I can't find any guidance on how long to leave it before taking another PCR, or rules on isolation in this instance.

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Do you have symptoms? If not then pcr not necessary and you go by lft.

If symptoms I would repeat pcr.

Thank you. Both have symptoms!

I can't find any guidance as to whether there is a time limit before you can book a second PCR.

You didn't need a PCR.

They have COVID you just have to isolate

England? Positive LFT isolate no PCR. Not sure on Wales / Scotland.

Is it a faint positive on a flow flex LFT?

If so, I would take another PCR. Because I don’t trust those Flowflex things. (My dd regular gets false positives on that brand).

But if they’ve been exposed to covid then it’s likely to be right.

Thanks to all for your advice. 2 x DC now testing negative (after positive LFTs and negative PCRs) and both down with the same symptoms as all their school friends who have tested Positive. And both very poorly with classic Covid symptoms.

I'm working on the assumption they have it, as won't take any risks of carrying it to anyone else, but the whole situation is bizarre.

If you were in this situation, would you book another PCR? I don't want to waste resources, but the symptoms and tests are not lining up here Hmm

Yes, England

So they have Covid and need to isolate.

Is there a reason you think they also need a PCR?

If at any stage they've had a positive LFT test, even if feint they have covid. No need to get a PCR. Think of it like a pregnancy test, you cant be just a little bit pregnant.
