Do I send my daughter to school?

I'm thinking no but my god the amount of school she has missed.

Situation. I'm day 6. Not getting out any time soon judging on today's line... I got this line 5 days after exposure from someone who tested neg on a lft until 24 hours after I spent time with her in close proximity.

DD 8 is positive, day 3. Had a raised temp over past few days. No other symptoms.

DP is neg. Currently in charge of supplies.

DD 10. The subject of this thread has a cough, a slightly raised temp (37.3 but she normally runs cold) These symptoms started Monday. Negative LFTs, negative PCR Monday. I'll test her on a LFT this morning and maybe try another PCR? I guess it might not be covid but it seems a massive coincidence.

Ps. I'm fed up, can you tell!

If her lft is negative I would send her. In our school we would need to send them the negative pcr result.

DSGR · 26/01/2022 06:49

I would also send her if negative. People will say not to but you’re following the rules (self isolation is also about to be dropped for everyone in around eight weeks so we are moving to living with this)

SomewhereOnlyIKnow · 26/01/2022 06:50

She’s negative, it’s not a new cough, so send her in.

frizzyandfrazzled · 26/01/2022 06:53

I'm beginning to think the tests are a bit pointless. They are literally a snapshot in time.

I totally get I'm following the rules, it just doesn't feel right. I am also wondering if the law might be dropped but employers/schools will still encourage isolation...anyway that's a different thread.

We await this morning's LFT before we make the call but interesting to see two send her to school replies... Thank you both

Similar situation here, we're all doing daily lfts (as well as the negative pcrs that DH and DD have had). All negative despite symptoms, so we're assuming the coincidence of a cold 🤷‍♀️

rattlemehearties · 26/01/2022 06:54

I wouldn't personally as it seems very likely it's Covid given the symptoms and close contact in the family home.

But the rules say she should go to school! So send her and let her pass it on to someone else Hmm

frizzyandfrazzled · 26/01/2022 06:54

3 send her to school....

Fcuk38 · 26/01/2022 06:54

Bloody hell why wouldn’t you. You can only go on the tests so go on the tests. Time to live with Covid and not be so padantic.

frizzyandfrazzled · 26/01/2022 06:56

If it helps our school have managed it really well. It's a big school. 50s building with a recent extension. Massive grounds and good ventilation.

Whispers what are you doing with your child?

And thanks rattleme. It's really a tough call. How I caught it really threw me...

Just trying not to inflict this on anyone else. Isolation is actually quite awful...

TulipsGarden · 26/01/2022 07:02

I wouldn't, personally. But I guess it depends what the school are like about it.

Bear in mind isolation rules are only being dropped in an attempt to save Boris Johnson's arse. He'll probably be gone by the end of the week, so that rule change may not come into force after all.

Iggly · 26/01/2022 07:02

No I wouldn’t bid get a drive through PCR asap this morning if possible.

I don’t trust LFTs.

It may be she has it and then it carries on spreading!!

Iggly · 26/01/2022 07:07

*but get

Drunkpanda · 26/01/2022 07:08

It's not a massive coincidence. Keep her off

dollywoodlooksgood · 26/01/2022 07:18

I’d keep her off tbh.

Picklesandbeans · 26/01/2022 07:26

No I wouldn't. Same situation here though I apparently have a horrible cold and the dc have covid!

JustKeepSwimmingJust · 26/01/2022 07:35

I wouldn’t currently. But our school have explained that they are on a knife edge for a complete closure (more classes being taught by TAs/unsupervised student teachers than qualified teachers this week) so have asked nicely for us to be more cautious
