Everyone's got COVID!

DH, DSD, DSS, and myself we've all got COVID. We're not part of the same cluster (we haven't seen them for 10 day or so). I'm tired I really have no energy to work, I just want to get into bed and maybe have a Bailey's. We have no painkillers left, next available delivery is not until Friday, I know we're allowed to go out and buy medicines, but I wouldn't want to do it. It's only like day 4 and I've had enough! Rant over

Can you ask someone to drop some painkillers off to you? Most people would happily do this for a friend or neighbour.
Hope you feel better soon.

Theforest · 25/01/2022 14:58

Get next day delivery on Amazon

Sexnotgender · 25/01/2022 15:00

Is there no one who can pop some paracetamol through your door?

Onlyrainbows · 25/01/2022 15:10

Amazon. Says they'll deliver tomorrow, but deliveries are fairly patchy here... We don't know the neighbours (we do but we don't have their numbers, we're fairly new to the neighborhood).

OP posts:
trumpisagit · 25/01/2022 15:15

I reckon any human who you know well enough to have their number would drop you some painkillers. I would do it for someone I barely know, happily.
Do you have a local Facebook covid network group? Have a look this is exactly what they are for (and to help with dog walking etc).

Katya213 · 25/01/2022 15:16

If you phone customer services of any of the supermarkets, they will book you a slot asap. Tell them you are isolating.

Thethreecs · 25/01/2022 15:17

That's rubbish and I hope you're all OK. Go to bed if you can, it's best to try rest. Can you phone your chemist and ask them to deliver the pain killers? Our chemist are arranging for any medications needed to be delivered rather than going inside and infecting others. I know not everywhere would do this but it's worth a try. You need pain killers.

Onlyrainbows · 25/01/2022 15:21

I forgot about our poor dog! She's hasn't had a walk for days now! We have a garden so it could be worse. We genuinely don't need much, just pain killers and maybe a bottle of tequila to burn my throat. My DHs boss is a jerk who's saying it could be a false positive (he had one a few weeks ago, PCR came back negative).

When I was isolating I had deliveroo do a shop run for meds etc., although my kids could’ve gone up the shop for me they couldn’t buy paracetamol and alcohol!
Worth a look to see if they (or Uber eats) cover your area. Hope you feel better soon!

Onlyrainbows · 25/01/2022 17:29

Unfortunately neither deliveroo nor Uber eats deliver groceries, just takeaways!

ScribblingPixie · 25/01/2022 17:31

Have you not got a local COVID group? People from our street were delivering food & medicine, walking dogs and all sorts when asked by people they didn't know at all.

Staffy1 · 25/01/2022 19:32

Amazon has an arrangement with Morrisons for next day grocery delivery.

Onlyrainbows · 25/01/2022 19:35

We don't have a local Morrisons (just checked and not available via Amazon). I don't know of any local groups on FB, but there's an app used by locals

OP posts:
HairyScaryMonster · 25/01/2022 19:55

When you register your positive test, T&T will message to ask if you need any support while you're self isolating. I know our local council had volunteers on hand for situations like yours.

Staffy1 · 28/01/2022 19:55

Sorry, only saw your reply now. For future, you don’t need to have a local Morrisons, just Google “Morrisons via amazon” .

maffhew · 28/01/2022 20:04

I know we're allowed to go out and buy medicines, but I wouldn't want to do it.

What? Where have you got that information from?

Onlyrainbows · 28/01/2022 20:17

The Amazon website clearly says it's not available in our area. The NHS website says it's allowed to go for groceries, medicines, funerals, A&W, and some other exceptions

OP posts:
Katie517 · 28/01/2022 20:23

There are several exemptions in the legislation for reasons why you can leave the house when isolating after a positive test, I feel like not many people know this! OP if you can’t get any any other way I would just drive out go somewhere with a self serve checkout in a mask and get some!

maffhew · 28/01/2022 20:25

If you have covid? You're mistaken. You absolutely can't leave the house for any reason if you have covid with the exception of a pcr test.

Anewuser · 28/01/2022 20:28

No wonder it is still spreading.

From the nhs website:

When you can leave your home while self-isolating

You can temporarily leave self-isolation to:

post a PCR test or antibody test at a Royal Mail priority postbox
get food or medicine if you cannot order it online or by phone, or you cannot ask someone to bring it to your home
get urgent health services for you, your family and pets
avoid harm, for example, if there is a fire or you are at risk of domestic abuse
access services as a victim of crime, for example, if there has been a burglary
help someone who is pregnant to go to a medical appointment, or to give birth
go to the funeral of a close family member or friend
meet legal duties such as going to court, taking part in court proceedings, or following bail conditions
take part in NHS COVID-19 research, but only if you're asked to leave self-isolation

Katie517 · 28/01/2022 20:42

@maffhew yes you can it’s on the NHS website and in the actual government legislation

Onlyrainbows · 28/01/2022 20:47

So if you can't get anyone or order any (like I can't) you definitely still can leave. I never needed to as I'm almos symptom free, but never needed the extra pain killers.

OP posts:
hayley013 · 28/01/2022 21:09

Ignore maffhew, you can go out and get what you need if you can't otherwise. Hope you're all ok

JuergenSchwarzwald · 28/01/2022 21:29

No, you can go out for medical reasons. Obviously!
