Hello,

My 9 year old (day 6) has tested negative on LFTs the last couple of days, but she is really quite poorly today, very tired, not moving at all, not eating or drinking and complaining of headaches and stomach pain. I have therefore not sent her back to school. She was not really very ill when diagnosed last tuesday (temperature and headache for a few hours) and has been completely well since until today.

Have others seen this pattern of illness?

I'm sorry to hear your DD is feeling poorly. I would imagine it's the same infection tbh. I've known people to be ok at the start and then their symptoms become worse as the days go on.

I would say that as it’s within the 10 days it’s the same infection, probably just due to her immune system finally giving in to symptoms, but also could be another virus. Sorry to hear she’s poorly and if you are worried call 111 for advice.

I think you need to at least phone 111 or your GP. It’s possibly a bit early for MIS-C which,I think, tends to happen after a bit longer, but getting worse after a week with those symptoms needs looking at.

Hi OP,

Sorry to hear your daughter feels like this. Really hope she is better soon.

My son (10) started with Covid around 10th Jan and had all the classic symptoms. His isolation finished last Weds/Thurs (tested positive all the way to the end), and he felt much better by then but very tired. He went back to school but is now off again - started complaining of feeling very tired, body hurting, headache, dizzy and just generally weak. He also started with a rash on his back, chest and legs. We have seen the doctor today who advised he's unfortunately one of the children who has suffered more than other children (those who barely notice it or bounce back very quickly) and it might take him longer to get over it fully. His blood pressure is a tad low too. She advised plenty of rest and to stay off school and avoid other activities such as football etc a little longer. He's having bloods done too to check nothing further underlying.

I know it's not the same situation for all and I'm clearly not a medical expert but just wanted to reply to let you know you're not alone as we have a similar situation. I would definitely urge you to speak to your GP though to get checked out, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Hope she's better soon.
