Wisdom tooth pain

Did anyone get wisdom tooth pain with covid? My partner has bad pain but he tested negative. No other symptoms of sick. He works in a public facing job. So somewhat high risk to picking up an infection. He's boosted.

Eh? Why would you think Covid and not just that he needs to see a dentist?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/01/2022 18:12

Covid has made people wacky. He's got a toothache, he needs to go to the dentist. Not everything is Covid.

Tooth pain can be a thing with covid (like an ache all around your teeth for me). When I had covid my sinuses were so inflamed my teeth hurt but that wasn't new for me. My teeth hurt with a cold. My sinuses are rubbish.

I wouldn't worry about wisdom tooth pain alone being covid though.

I've suffered with wisdom teeth issues for years. I wouldn't think that alone was covid. A wisdom tooth infection can make you feel poorly though, even a fever in some cases.

I'm not sure why he would test though? I've had my wisdom teeth out recently. But suffered with wisdom tooth pain for years before that, including during the pandemic. I would have never of put them together.

Maybe he should go to the dentist?

Well I did, but I had the worst sore throat ever and an ear infection so not surprising that my impacted wisdom tooth played up too. But not sure why it would be an issue without any other symptoms.

@Username3092997 - I've got a hospital appointment in a few weeks to see about having my impacted wisdom tooth out. How did you find having yours extracted? I'm terrified by the prospect.

He is experiencing a slight sore throat now but it's ever so slight. He thinks maybe the two are connected. One side of his face his swollen too. There's definitely something going on. Whether it's covid or another infection (bacterial infection) or dental pain.

Do you associate every ache & pain with covid? He’s clearly got toothache that he need to see a dentist for?! If his face is swollen, I’d suggest he sees an emergency dentist as likely he’s got an infection in his tooth/gum and they need antibiotics ASAP.

It’s 100% not covid. He’s got a tooth infection. This is such a weird post. People have lost the plot 🙈 go to the bloody dentist!

Sloughsabigplace · 23/01/2022 19:19

Yeah, he needs to see a dentist asap.

Covid is a bit of an odd conclusion to jump to when it’s pretty clearly a wisdom tooth infection with the pain and swelling.

Sloughsabigplace · 23/01/2022 19:19

And when my wisdom tooth plays up like that, I get a slight sore throat on that side too.

@Medievalist - I had one out in the last year after years of awful pain & infection. It infuriates me that the NHS just think it’s perfectly OK for people to live for years with terrible toothache & taking countless antibiotics for infections.

Anyway, I had mine done without being put out. Honestly, the procedure was quite brutal but I knew it would be & I just kept calm. At one point the dentist had a foot up on the bed and was yanking for dear life 🙈 about half way through, I started to feel quite a lot of pain and they had to stop and give me more numbing injections. It was all over in about 25 minutes. Recovery was OK. Sore & I got an infection but overall, I could eat normally again within 3 weeks. It was useful for weight loss 😂 and life is AMAZING with no more pain. I’d go through it all again quite happily to live like this!

Medievalist · 23/01/2022 19:44

I lost half a stone over Xmas as the area around my wisdom tooth was infected. Couldn't have alcohol with the antibiotics and just didn't fancy eating much with an oozing/bleeding gum 🤢. Think I'd rather be podgy and pain free!
