Another Covid one.

I tested positive for Covid at the beginning of the month, and now 2 weeks later my son has a positive lateral flow after developing symptoms on Friday.

My question is, do the rest of the household need to test daily or are we exempt considering the rest of us have had it at various points since the new year.

Tia

Yes I think you're still supposed to do the lateral flow tests. Only PCR if you get new symptoms

Theunamedcat · 23/01/2022 15:04

I've no clue but facing the same dilemma over here

GoodnightGrandma · 23/01/2022 15:05

You can’t PCR within 12 weeks of a positive I believe.

CA0932017 · 23/01/2022 15:06

Dd had covid in December, we all had it then. Was testing her daily and lft picked it up and she had no symptoms that time.

Dd tested positive again last Sunday with symptoms but very mild after an outbreak in her class.

She's had it twice in a month...

I have been doing lft's all weekend that have been negative (so far!)

So we all had it last month, Dd was the last to get it and so far only she has had it this time.

So it can go either way!

You can if you have new symptoms 😃
Igneo · 23/01/2022 15:08

90 days, not 12 weeks?

Yep you need daily tests. She must have a different variant.

Theunamedcat · 23/01/2022 15:16

What about lateral flow tests can you do those?

You can't have the vaccine within 12 weeks either can you? Ds was booked in for his second

hereandther · 23/01/2022 15:24

Thank you for the replies. What a carry on.

Essentially we could all end up with it again?!

I've been in work 2 days of the year so far, I don't know how much more I can take, mentally and financially.

Yep, we've all ended up with it again within the 90 days. I assume we had Delta then Omicron, but we'll never know. We know DH and I contracted it through a close contact at work first time round and shared it with our 2 kids. This time kids have brought it home from an outbreak at school and shared it with us. We know we had been testing negative in between as we had negative LFTs and Day 2 PCR tests following travel outside the UK. Thankfully mild both times.

PlugUgly1980 · 23/01/2022 16:11

@Theunamedcat 28 days post positive test for the booster.

I'm pretty sure we had omicron at the beginning of the month. Symptoms were backache and headaches for all of us. My ds, who has now tested positive was the only one who remained negative throughout our isolation period.

testing for contacts is advisory. in your case i wouldn't be testing as its almost 100% likely that any positive is false so soon after infection

NHS staff are explicitly told no lft OR PCR in 90 days unless symptomatic

Wnkingawalrus · 23/01/2022 16:42

I thought the 7 days of LFTs was only advised and not an actual requirement?

I had covid just before Christmas. DC1 tested positive a week ago. I’ve not bothered testing daily, seems a waste, particularly on days when I’ve not been out.

This is what I thought.
