LFT line getting stronger?!

Hi. My son and husband tested positive for Covid on 12th Jan and I began symptoms later that day and tested positive the next morning. Hubby had big fat lines from the get go. Son’s was definite line and mine was really faint.
Started day 5 testing - son negative, husband definite positive, me a ghostly line. Anyway, continued testing and son got early release. On day 8 I got a negative test after days of tests not showing the line until 10 mins in. I was ready to go to work yesterday but then my test was the thickest line I’d ever had!! I double checked and same happened again. I have a strong line again today - my last day of isolation! I’ve (nearly) done my 10 days but the tests are just getting stronger!
Any ideas why?! Am I really free tomorrow?!
I am also 12 weeks pregnant and on anti sickness meds if that makes any difference. I have my scan on Monday and I’m supposed to LFT before but if I’ve done my time, they can’t refuse me can they?!

If you've done 10 days isolation you are fine even if you're still getting lines.

TulipsGarden · 22/01/2022 07:19

Do you have any symptoms, either longstanding or new?

I'm just wondering if your body has been fighting the virus off all the time you've had faint lines, but has now been overcome so you're showing a strong positive because there's more virus in your system.

My symptoms at the beginning were headache, snotty, sickness and then fever, cough, shortness of breath for 1 day. As I’m pregnant, it’s hard to tell what’s Covid and what’s pregnant now. I have a fuzzy head, ringing in ears but it’s been like that throughout. So no new symptoms. My temperature has generally sat between 38 and 38.6 which is technically a temp but not bad.
It would make sense about my body being overwhelmed I guess as it’s working overtime anyway.

Sorry to ask, I just want to be clear, Have you had a temperature of over 38 for 10 days?
Is your temp still over 38?

bonetiredwithtwins · 22/01/2022 07:37

If you still have a temperature on day 10 of isolation you have to remain isolating is my understanding

A temp of 38 is a high temperature

Dani7 · 22/01/2022 07:41

It was 38 when I checked it this morning. We are still isolating today anyway as it’s day 10.
Sounds silly but I’ve not ‘felt’ like I’ve got a temperature so not checked it regularly but when I have, it’s not been higher than 38.6. Generally sat around 38 though, has been lower and higher. I took paracetamol but struggling to keep them down (sickness) and it didn’t bring it down. Just thought I had to ride it out.

38 is not “technically “ a temperature.
You have a fever and it has been going on for many days.

The guidance says you still have to isolate.

But aside from that, if it were me who was 12 weeks pregnant with a 10 day fever, I would be seeking medical attention now.

If you have a number for the department where you are going to be scanned, let them know. If you can’t get through, call 111 and ask their advice.

everythingthelighttouches · 22/01/2022 07:57

I’m correcting myself because that sounds a bit dramatic.

I would be seeking medical advice now.

Dani7 · 22/01/2022 08:09

Sorry if it came across like I was breaking isolation. I am continuing to isolate today regardless as today is the ‘last’ day. Obviously I will check my temperature tomorrow before breaking isolation. My temperature is now 37.5 without any paracetamol. I will keep a closer eye on it today.

I got another big, fat line today, I’m day 17/18 ish, lost count. Only tested because my dad is in a care home and desperate for a visit - I have to take a LFT when I arrive there, I will just be turned away they really don’t have time to chat about how many days post infection you are.

Only ever had a blocked nose for a few days, no temperature.

OP I would call and ask for advice re scan.

everythingthelighttouches · 22/01/2022 09:10

It didn’t sound like you were breaking isolation at all OP, just asking the question and god knows, the rules are confusing enough!

The bigger concern really is not the isolation rules but your health.

Hope your temp comes down, you can get in touch with the department scanning you and your scan goes well when it happens.

Take it easy Flowers

Agreeing with previous posters, a temperature over 37.8 is a fever, 38.6 is a high fever. If you don't feel ill with that maybe your thermometer is wrong, because I would be in bed and miserable. Even 37.5 is quite high for normal, I would class that as a low grade fever.

I believe the rule is that if you still have a fever you can't end isolation. I would also be concerned about having a fever for so long while pregnant, and would be trying to bring it down.
