When did your symptoms peak?

Morning All,

Just wondering for those who've had Covid recently, when did your symptoms peak?

I started on Sunday with cough and sore throat, faint positive confirmed on Monday with PCR result. Since then I've been up and down but yesterday and today feel awful. It's now in my head/sinuses and I am experiencing the weirdest heavy, painful sensations in my arms and legs, along with the cough, sore throat, nausea, exhaustion.

I tested this morning (not that I want to go anywhere feeling like this!!) but more out of intrigue as it's day 6 (photo attached), positive appeared within 10 seconds of the sample hitting the test kit! How on earth are people able to leave isolation sooner than day 10??

Just wondered when everyone was at their worst??

Thank you.

When did your symptoms peak?

I tested positive last Friday and tests have been getting darker, though I started feeling less rubbish on Wednesday and now feel ok. Just can't go back to work because of tests being pinker. Asked a medical professional and she said she that symptoms and test lines don't always correlate and a dark line doesn't mean you're getting worse

Hi OP, without sounding pedantic if you started with symptoms on Sunday (day zero) today is only day five... Hope you feel better soon.

thisgirlcan79 · 22/01/2022 07:29

Thanks for your unhelpful comment @StripeySnail, I'm only asking when other people's symptoms peaked. Don't waste your time replying in future. Never said anything about expecting to be 'over it' by day 5.

@thisgirlcan79 are you fully vaccinated? Only asking cause the symptom progression has been different for those vaccinated and boosted (me and DH) and our children (unvaccinated).

oscarandelliesdad · 22/01/2022 07:55

I was double vaccinated but hadn't managed to get my booster before I caught Omicron. Had similar symptoms to you and was feeling functional again by day 7, although still with a crushing headache, and now on day 12 feeling fine... Just a residual sinusy feeling. Hope you feel better soon op

anotherdaynotanotherdollar · 22/01/2022 07:55

@StripeySnail there is nothing wrong with your comment!! Think the OP must be feeling like shit and a tad irritable - hope it passes soon for you OP.

thisgirlcan79 · 22/01/2022 08:01

@Sleepdeprived42long, thanks for your reply.

DH and I are double vaxxed and boosted, DS1 has had one vax, and DS2 is too young so he's the only one without.

Interesting you say that, because DH and I have been exactly the same with symptoms and when they've developed. DS2 seemed to suffer more extremes than anyone else (probably because unvaccinated) but he's now 13 days since testing positive and seems to have developed sore throat and cough again!

I know a lot of people (vaccinated) said they only felt a bit naff for a couple of days then felt fine again but this seems to have hit us with loads of symptoms even being vaccinated.

I have just tested positive again day 8 can’t advise about symptoms I feel as fit as a fiddle so obviously your physical state does not seem to affect how long you are positive
I have been vaccinated and boosted

Passthecake30 · 22/01/2022 08:04

I’d say my and my dps symptoms changed along the way, so sore throat/cold/tired for 4 days, the tiredness improved but was replaced by stuffed up ears from day 4-8, then a cough came day 9-12…. It took about 16 days before my energy came back.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 22/01/2022 08:06

Every one reacts differently OP. Sorry you feel rough but some people like my mum just had a tickly throat and tested negative after a couple of days.
I had it like you, felt worse as the days went on .

Mamabear12 · 22/01/2022 08:35

I had two days of very minor sore throat, barely anything. Then peeked day 3-5 with fever, aches, pains, headache, worse sore throat, fatigue. It then got tiny bit better with no fever or sore throat. But severe fatigue, muscle aches for a few days...then became less severe until day 12 started to feel better, day 14 negative and feeling more normal. Still a little fatigued.

Sleepdeprived42long · 22/01/2022 08:50

Sorry to hear your symptoms so persistent OP. I know we’ve been really lucky to get off so lightly. DH and I have only had a light tickly cough. DCs had 24 hours of high temperature and tiredness but are now completely fine. Just dosed them up with ibuprofen and calpol and let them sleep! I was testing negative again the day after my positive LF but DH and DCs are still strong positives.

I know there wasn't. Thanks for having my back though @anotherdaynotanotherdollar

OP, as I said at the start, hope you feel better soon.

@StripeySnail To be fair to the op it did sound a bit pedantic and unnecessary. Kind of like people who like to correct grammar.

I was also wondering this, I just tested positive on antigen test this morning, DS has had Covid since last Saturday, tiny cough initially but no other symptoms. I developed a sore throat and bad headache yesterday but tested negative last night on nasal swabbing. This morning as the throat was the main symptom I swabbed both nose and throat and was (faintly) positive. Went to get PCR done immediately and back home now. I don't feel great but not very ill.

A related question, when would people call a doctor? My dad went straight to a doctor when he had symptoms, tested positive and was put on loads of medication including antibiotics, steroids, blood thinners. But he is 78 and has had a coronary artery graft. I am 58 and apart from controlled hypertension am pretty OK. So presumably I don't go bothering my GP unless things changed significantly?
