Covid at nine weeks pregnant and horrible anxiety

I've had Covid for a week now, partner got it first and wad quite ill. I've been coldy and hot but otherwise ok except nausea/diarrhea. I'm nine weeks pregnant with a desperately wanted IVF baby and a friend advised me to call the midwifery team fir advice, reassurance, saying maybe I might need blood thinners.

I called them and the woman was horribly brisk. I asked can Covid harm the baby and she began to lecture me on being vaccinated but I'm triple vaccinated.

I know I've had other anxious threads too. This is an IVF baby and I'm so scared. Still testing in positive with lft.

I would call back, and hopefully another midwife picks up. If it is the same one, ask if you could kindly speak to someone else.

Getting reassurance from them will help ease your anxiety a bit. Yes, you have Covid, but it doesn't have to affect you in any way more than it has, as you've said, you're triple vaccinated so you have taken precautions that hopefully mean that your symptoms will pass and you will be fine.

9 weeks is an anxious time for all pregnant women whether you're ill or not, so try not to let the fear get you down, try to stay off the internet too. Focus on getting rest, eating well and doing as advised by your midwife. Wishing you the best.

Thank you so much @CUniverse. I don't dare call back as it's an answer phone and scared she will call me again, unless I request that a different one calls me but can imagine het calling anyway.

My anxiety this pregnancy is horrible. I called for reassurance and also because someone I know was told to take blood thinners in pregnancy when she had Covid. The midwife said this isn't a thing they do.

Hi OP, I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and tested positive for covid last Friday. I'm triple vaxxed and have only had very mild symptoms. When I rang my midwifery team they were very reassuring and said this was probably the best time to get covid as most people are reporting mild symptoms. I was advised to keep an eye on my temperature, and to call them back if it started creeping up or if I had any shortness of breath. Thankfully neither has happened!

I had also read about blood thinners, but the midwife did not mention these at all, so perhaps that's just in specific circumstances.

It must be very difficult with anxiety, but try to remain positive. Hoping everything goes well for you.

Oh no @SillyChumpster. I'm sorry you have it too but glad your midwifery team are lovely. Did they say it's the best time now as you're third trimester or as it's so mild? Thank you xx

If you’re triple vaccinated I’m sure you’ll be fine, I think it’s only the last trimester where it’s a concern if you catch COVID (I may be wrong!) could your partner call back? Or could you call tomorrow when she won’t be in?

SillyChumpster · 20/01/2022 13:13

Bit of both OP! It's good for me personally as its not too close to my due date. But they did say that this variant seems to be milder and the women they've seen with it (who are fully vaccinated) have on the whole only had a few, mild symptoms.

Thanks winging this, I'll try tomorrow. Also trying the clinic

Just as a little post for reassurance. I'm 40 weeks pregnant with an IVF baby and have just finished my 10 day isolation after testing positive for covid. I'm not vaccinated at all. Not looking to start a vaccine debate but more so to reassure you a bit of the non horror stories! I had nausea, headaches and body aches and at the end a cold for a couple of days but otherwise it was very mild and short lived and my baby is fine. Sending you well wishes OP

Thank you Silly.

My lfts are getting darker which scares me a little. My first one was very faint last Friday and now they're defiantly pink
