We all had covid in December. No gastro symptoms in any of us.

Fast forward, Dd has covid again after an outbreak in her class. Cold like symptoms for her.

DS has been up since the early hours on and off the toilet with an upset tummy. Otherwise fine.

He's just had covid but I know he can get it again as Dd has. He had symptoms last time, Dd did not.

Obviously I will test him but he has asd and it's traumatic so we haven't managed it - yet!

I don't really want to go straight to pcr cos there's ever so slight chance that his pcr could be positive from last night. I feel lft's will be more accurate in our case after having it only 5 weeks ago - they pick up when most infectious right?

Probably wait til tomorrow to do lft as it could easily just too soon to tell today. Ok Sunday Dd was very faint line then negative on lft with some symptoms and stronger line by Monday.

Never ending.

All four of my children only experienced gastro symptoms for a 24 hour bout and then felt much better. Two were sick, two had diarrhoea. In fact 24 hours was the maximum, it was much much less than that for most of them. Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you. Were they okay otherwise? Ds has been on and off the toilet all day but definitely not 'poorly'. He's running around, full appetite etc - appetite probably isn't helping the tummy mind.

I intend to test him tomorrow.

@CA0932017. Hello again, I just realised we've been chatting on my other thread too! Grin

My kids have been OK otherwise! They felt very off colour while their stomachs were bad, but as soon as that passed, they all returned pretty much to normal! Slightly blocked noses in two of them, but that is it.

Haha I didn't realise, thank you. Sadly we are on round 2 of covid. We had it in December, now Dd has it again. I'm negative this time so far! Hoping I don't catch it again...

All the children in DS’s school (primary) who had covid during a school outbreak had diarrhoea or vomiting as their main symptom. That’s about 22 children.

Crazy isn't it. We've got major outbreaks here too! 20 in DD's class or 25, lots more in other classes. Ds had covid in December too - no gastric symptoms then but obviously it could present very differently this time around, if it is covid again... Dd has it again 😪

They also need to update symptom list. Dd has none of the main three - she's just snotty, sore throat and sore nose and eyes (sinuses I think). If this is covid for DS it's an upset stomach...

Yes sore eyes was another common complaint amongst the children! They definitely need to update the symptom list for children.

Hope everything is ok OP Flowers

I agree it needs updating! I'd say gastro symptoms have been pretty much the only symptom in my children. A minor blocked nose here and there, but very mild.

As for the LF tests, yes, they seem to only test positive once the virus reaches higher levels. So my children and I didn't test positive at first, but only on day 3 or 4.

Strangely, some kids at my children's school have complained of toothache!

Yes, definitely possible. When I had covid in December me sinuses were so inflamed which made my teeth hurt like hell! Like an ache.

Yes, it's all linked, isn't it. My son was saying his chin hurt.

Somethingsnappy · 20/01/2022 12:43

And it would explain the eyes hurting too.
