what are our chances of staying negative?

Dc3 tested positive (faint) on Monday this week. No symptoms but there are 20 children off school with covid in his class so some of the parents got together and agreed to test the dc daily. The rest of us (7 people) have tested negative on monday, tuesday and wednesday this week. Dc3 tested positive again today but still faint. Think it might be a bit stronger than Monday but not certain and I didn't photograph his test from Monday so can't be sure.

Dc5 and I started with a cold on Sunday. DH and dc4 got the cold yesterday and now dc3 has either caught the cold or has started with covid symptoms.

If we are all (apart from dc3) still testing negative on day 3 does that mean our chances are good for not catching it. Also are faint tests for dc3 a good sign?

DH and I are double vaccinated and boostered, dc1 and dc2 are double vaccinated and dc's 3, 4 and 5 are unvaccinated (all under 12).

I'm really worried as we are all cv. We have been really careful and not been out much in the winter months and mostly been meeting outside during the summer. But the dc had to go to school or we would have been fined.

DD6 tested positive on Friday - headache and tummy pain for 2 days. Pretty much back to normal now.

I tested positive yesterday and DH this morning. DD15 is CV and currently the only person who doesn't have it.

Honestly I think this new strain is very difficult to contain, despite my best efforts 3/4 of us have caught it within a few days. However early days but we are all feeling okay.

All of ours have been very faint lines and afaik that indicates lower viral load so a good sign.

Please try not to worry, I know its tough but Im sure you will all be fine and you may still avoid it Thanks

My dd was positive a week ago today. The rest of us in the household have remained negative. She wasn't confined to her bedroom either.

It just seems to be luck of the draw.

My DS had it after going back to school. None of his friends caught it who he’d been with all day and after school and nobody else in my house tested positive. DD had it previously in Late October and none of us caught it then.

DS caught it off me after 8 days so no guarantees I'm afraid

There is absolutely no way to know, take all the precautions you can and hope for the best

You'll find lots of threads on this. Me and DD1 had it over Christmas when we were all in the house together, DH and DD2 didn't catch it. It's not a certainty that you'll all get it.

Thankyou. Day 4 and dc3 has the faintest line I have ever seen. Everyone else is negative. I am very cautiously optimistic.
