Question about Covid

I’m supposed to be going to the theatre tonight but am considering cancelling.
The husband of the friend I’m going with has flu symptoms and has, this morning, gone for a PCR test.

If my friend’s lateral flow test is negative today, does that mean she doesn’t currently have Covid, or could she develop it over the course of the day due to contact with her husband?

I realise anyone could have it at the theatre but this is more in relation to her husband (probably) being positive.

Ask her to do a test just before she leaves the house?

She could develop it over the course of the day, as it can be surprisingly fast. Having said that, I've currently got covid and so far it's nowhere near as bad as the flu I had a few weeks ago - that was brutal. So I would be wary of contact even if tests did come back negative as flu can be ghastly and she could give you that instead.

KiloWhat that’s a good idea.

I’m not too worried about having Covid symptoms (I’m double jabbed and boosted).
It’s more that, as a home tutor, I wouldn’t be able to work from home.

Would you not be wearing a mask in the theatre anyway?

GoodnightGrandma · 19/01/2022 09:19

My DH had a negative LFT on the same day he went for his positive PCR.

MsMartini · 19/01/2022 09:24

Yes, a positive can be preceded by a negative, it can turn at any time. I wouldn't go if getting it meant missing work.

Cookerhood · 19/01/2022 09:33

Our positive case didn't get positive on lateral flow until 24 hours after his positive PCR.
