Positive Lateral flow - do I have to take her for PCR?

Hi my daughter has tested clear positive on 2 lateral flows this evening. She is fine other than a slight cough last night. I know as she has symptoms I’m technically meant to get her a pcr but last time she did one she vomited and hates them so much ! I full intend to isolate with her but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to skip the PCR?

God only knows! I can't keep up.

(Sorry, not much help)

How old is she? My little boy is 6 (also recently diagnosed with autism) and has developed a huge phobia of covid tests (including when they are just in the nostril). It's become absolutely impossible without 3 people restraining him. I'm not going to do this so unfortunately I'll have to isolate him if he has symptoms. It's a nightmare because I'm now a single mum and I really need to be at work.

You don't need to do a pcr.

RenegadeMrs · 18/01/2022 23:33

I don't know 'officially' if you should or not but I took my 4 year old for one last week and was advised to only do the nostril sample. Made life much easier.

Gloschick · 18/01/2022 23:33

If you are in England, no, you don't need to get a pcr, just record the lft result on the website.

TheGriffle · 18/01/2022 23:34

No pcr required.

Mindymomo · 19/01/2022 06:53

No PCR required, but log the positive on gov.uk website.

JangolinaPitt · 19/01/2022 06:57

Definitely don’t bother! You will get caught up in the nightmarish NHS bureaucracy. No-one I know who is getting a positive is bothering with a PCR now.

Opihr · 19/01/2022 06:59

No you don't. Just record the LFT result here: www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

Keepgoing88 · 19/01/2022 13:15

Thanks everyone have recorded the LFT
