Third primary dose and booster back to front - will this be ok?

I have an autoimmune condition for which I take immunosuppressant drugs. In October my consultant wrote to my GP (I received a copy of this letter) requesting that she organise my third primary covid vaccine. When I heard nothing after a month or so I called my GP, consultant's secretary and 119, none of whom knew how/where to get the vaccination (119 didn't even seem to know what I was talking about and kept telling me I'd be notified when I was eligible for my booster).

At the end of November I was able to book a booster so took the opportunity to do so, just in case I never got the third dose sorted (I had my second in July so was worried about waning protection going into winter).

Today I received a letter from my hospital trust telling me that I was now due my booster following my third primary dose!

After much to-ing and fro-ing I eventually spoke to someone on a number my GP gave me who said that as soon as it was 13 weeks after my booster to call them back and they'd book me in for my third dose, rather than another booster (I'll get a full dose of Pfizer after 2 AZ and a Moderna booster).

My question is, will this affect my protection? I'm kind of hoping it'll leave me better protected as my last dose will be a full one!Im also a bit annoyed that their mix up has left me without full protection over winter but I accept these things happen - let's just hope I don't get covid in the meantime!

Only moderna gives a different dose as a booster; the others are full doses. Was it an actual moderna booster (½dose) that you were given? If it was then when you get your Pfizer you will have had 3 x full doses and 1 x half dose moderna

Yes, definitely a half dose of Moderna.

The lady I spoke to on the phone explained that I will still have had three full doses and a half booster dose, just the wrong way round.

It will be fine, a half dose of Moderna is still "stronger" than a full dose of Pfizer.

Ah I didn't know this! That's very reassuring.

I've had covid three times, too - let's hope that by the time I'm quadruple jabbed I'll be superhumanly immune!

"Each dose of Pfizer’s contains 30 micrograms of vaccine. Moderna went with a much larger dose of vaccine, 100 micrograms. It means the company is using a little more than three times as much vaccine per person as Pfizer is. While Moderna’s initial results didn’t seem to justify the much larger dose, data suggest the protection the company’s vaccine generates is declining at a slower rate than Pfizer’s is; some experts believe the higher dose may be at least partially responsible."
