Does the positive line get fainter?

This has probably been asked before, but I'm too tired to look through all of the threads, I have looked through a few.
Does the T line get fainter, as you head towards negative?
I've just done a day 5 test, and it's definitely fainter.

Mine did. My pattern was: Strong + Strong + Strong + Less strong + Less strong + Faint + Less strong +

Yes, gradually, day by day. I'm on day 9. The line took 5 mins to come up and was fainter today than yesterday.

Day 1 so faint I could barely see it
Day 6 very bright
Day 7 negative
Day 8 negative

I'm on day 7 and mines still incredibly clear. I was hoping it would just disappear

Thank you for asking this, I was wondering same thing.
My 4 year old tested positive on Saturday night with a line so faint we couldn't even be sure it was there. My husband checked it after 28ish mins, said it was negative. We tucked DC in and he went to sleep. I checked it 10mins later and there was a faint line, was it there at 28mins and DH just hadn't noticed as it was so faint?!
So we waited til the next morning and tested again and similar thing but we made sure to both check at 25-30mins and the faint line was there again. So positive he is.
We haven't tested since as he doesn't much like the tests, I'm wondering what will happen when we test later in the week in the hope of early release. He is completely asymptomatic and hasn't passed it on to any of us, even though he's breathing on me all day so 🤞 he just has a very light viral load and will be negative quickly!
Following with interest!

@bluesky45 it can take days or even a couple weeks for people to get it. I’ve seen this with two families where the last person too 2-3 weeks to catch covid from when the first person had it.

bluesky45 · 18/01/2022 20:09

@mamabear12 yes, that's what I'm dreading! We've been testing ourselves daily and ds2, who is only 2, every other day as he hates the tests and gets very upset by them. All negative so far, really hoping not to get to day 7 before we catch it, currently on day 3!

My 2 year old tested positive on a Monday I was positive 2 days later. I'm sure he had it before that as he was sleepy all weekend but testing negative then. He's on day 8 and still testing so strong

From my experience last month yes. I had a very faint line on day 7 then nothing by day 9 This was at the same sort of time the new rules come in for 7 days before Christmas, made no difference to me at that point as was pretty much done isolating bar one day. I was just curious!
