Proof your child has had one jab

We are hoping to travel to France next month and need to be able to prove that DD (15) has had one vaccine plus has had Covid.

Does anyone know how you prove your child has had the first dose? All the automated systems only work if the child has had both doses and I only want to ask the GP as a last resort as they are busy. She can’t have her second dose yet as she couldn’t have her first until early December as she had Covid in late September.

You can order a letter from NHS website

@fizzypop100

You can order a letter from NHS website
This.

I ordered my DD one last Wednesday and it arrived today. It's only valid for travel for one month so make sure you order in time but not too early.

BlueyDragon · 18/01/2022 10:38

Thank you - I’ve tried that but computer said no as she’s only had one jab. I’ll have another look.

You definitely can’t get a letter if you have only had one jab, not through the automated process.

Has your DD had both jabs?

Oops, sorry, I thought someone was asking you, OP.

Cookerhood · 18/01/2022 12:30

I would call 119

PiglingBlonde · 18/01/2022 12:33

I was looking at this yesterday. The NHS seems only to give a letter to children if they've had both jabs. I don't know whether there is a way of getting a Covid pass from a private GP? There were a number advertising online.

Otherwise for France, your DD would be allowed to go and doesn't have to quarantine if she's travelling with vaccinated adults, but would have to do LFTs if you go anywhere and these would give temporary covid passes.

Flamingos · 18/01/2022 12:47

I'm in the same position. Travelling to Italy in 3 weeks and need proof that my DD12 has had 1 jab. 119 said they can't issue a letter, only once she has had both. I've just written to the GP, hopefully they will issue e letter confirming it. I will let you know!

BlueyDragon · 18/01/2022 15:54

Update: helpful person on 119 said you can add your child as a linked profile to your NHS app. Once that is done you should be able to see your child’s vaccination (and any prior positive Covid tests) in the NHS app.

One vaccine plus recovery = vaccinated for this age group in France. You need a certificate from a pharmacy that then gives you the code to put in the French app, which should then avoid the need for daily LFTs.

I have already done that, I have linked my daughter account to mine on the NHS App, but all I can see is an entry that she had the vaccine, no QR code or anything that can be scanned. I am not sure about France, but Italy definitely won't accept it, I have already checked.

How do you link accounts?
Flamingos · 18/01/2022 19:14

Explain to your GP that you want to link accounts, they will give you a proxy form for you and your child to complete and sign. Once they have processed the form the account will be linked automatically to yours. You can view your child's profile under Linked Accounts on the NHS app.

TheElderleyBrothers · 18/01/2022 21:17

My GP wouldn't proxy my daughter on mine as she's 13. They did send a letter confirming her first jab but it arrived too late. The French pharmacy did take her proof of Covid infection and vaccination card as proof and issued her with a pass sanitaire.

Thanks TheElderlyBrothers, that’s really helpful to know. Will try and find her vaccine card!

GP has also refused to link her account, just saying that can’t be done. I’ve sent them the link explaining that it is them that does it and we’ll see if that works.

This is putting me off travelling with DC, sounds complicated!

chalkyc2 · 19/01/2022 22:12

Uh @CeeceeBloomingdale I didn't realise the letter is only valid for a month!! I ordered one on Monday but need it for half term!! I'll need to do it again...will they issue again?? I don't understand why they can't send it as an email at least 🙄🙄

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/01/2022 22:52

Neither did I until it arrived @chalkyc2

OP yes DD has had two, I didn't realise they only did letters after the second. I assumed the process would have been the same for one, sorry.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/01/2022 22:54

I imagine you can request another, it seems an automated process so doubt they care if you need another. If people are travelling regularly they will be requesting them regularly although the app is supposed to be accessible to 12-15yo quite soon I believe.

Thunderpunt · 20/01/2022 07:13

My GP has managed to link my sons profile to my NHS app, but now I think I have to ring 119 back to get them to update his Covid status on the NHS app. (Currently just gives his name and address)
